It's great that he can be a probowler monday-saturday, but it's what happens on sundays that matter.

Honestly, I hope I am wrong. I want Beck to succeed, who doesn't? It just seems with Pennington and Henne in town, he is the odd man out in the future

Chad Pennington last year threw a 4th quarter interception in four games last season all of which ended the games.

@ the Giants down seven threw one to Aaron Ross.
@ the Bills down three threw one with 10 seconds left inside the Buffalo 40.
@ the Bengals down seven threw one with just two minutes left driving, around midfield.
vs the Eagles he threw one down 16-9.

His "field smarts" that people always said he had even after his arm was torn to shreds, were non exsistent last season.

    Enjoy.

You can't be serious with talk like this when was the last time the Jets did anything noteworthy? Besides trade for a 39 year old quarterback.

He has to be given the chance to perform on Sunday. If you cut him now, are you giving him the chance to perform for your team on Sunday? No.

He could be the odd man out but he could also be a good backup for Henne if they choose to keep him.

By all means guys if you have any questions about Chad please feel free to send me a PM or ask me here. I'll be willing to answer any question. Do not hate Chad at all for making the smartest move he could make so they will not be altered as to what I thought of him when we released him. It was sad to see Chad go but it was time to move on. He just didn't have it anymore and Brett was a huge upgrade.

    Feel free.

BTW, anyone want a Jet Pennington jersey? I have three. Would be willing to give them to you for free. ;)

No no Gandalf. Not "when was the last time a fins QB had an outside shot at putting up Favre like numbers".

Its ok though...the Jets haven't had a QB with a season like any of those in 10 years. The Phins have been one of the few teams out there in worse shape at the position then the Jets though...and Penny is a step up.

you know what, I thought this was gonna be a little weird but I'm down for this. If he wins the job I wish him the best of luck. Hated him when he was a Jet...now he is a Dolphin and I will be rooting for him like every other player that's ever been in Miami. Good luck Chad! Go get 'em!

Dude, I definitely do not want Beck to be cut. I think he should be given the chance to start this year. Especially considered Pennington will be our starter. I just don't think he will be the QB of the future in Miami. That's Henne's for the taking IMO

Chad only throws deep balls once in a while and when he does he makes sure a Cornerback isn't within 10 yards of the ball. Plus, what exactly is a "deep ball" do they clarify the exact yardage?

I look at it this way, we had a chance to get a better vet. over Josh and we jumped on it. Its that simple. We're not going to the SB in the next couple yrs so he will serve his purpose till youth kicks in.

Ah yes, Ronnie's dynamic performance, half of which came in the 4th quarter when the Jets were in prevent defense after taking a 31-13 lead. And BTW, not to start anything, but, who won that game?

BTW, Alan Faneca has made the last seven Pro Bowls and Kris Jenkins is a beast of a man, a three-time Pro Bowler. Tony Richardson is one of the best blocking Fullbacks in the game. Brett Favre is an upgrade over Pennington and is coming off his third best season, stat wise. Calvin Pace was a risk, nobody else was a risk or question mark.

IMO every move they have made except possibly Faneca and Jenkins have been high risk, high reward type moves.

Paying him $25 million, no, putting him at Right Tackle, sure, but he's an upgrade over Anthony Clement no matter what. If problems occur, move him to Right Guard but the man has played every position on the Offensive Line except Left Tackle. He's a key person to have. Gotta love those mutli-functional Lineman.

Yeah Ronnie got his 100 yards rushing in the final minutes of the 4th quarter.

Faneca- Enjoy eating his salary the last two years of his contract, he will worn down sooner then later

Jenkins- Seriously? Do you expect this guy to be be beast in the middle? There is a reason why the Panthers traded him.

    Richardson- Yeah two years ago

I think paying him $25 million was a little overboard but it may have been worth it. I think he's a good player that has nice versatility along the line, I just don't know if I'd give him that much. How many years did he get? 3 or 5? If five then its not too bad.

    Deal is worth $11.5 million.

No word on how much is actually guaranteed, or if there are any large bonuses due next year. But it would appear that at $5.75 million per, he's expected to start.

With that said, I expect there's a rather large roster bonus due next March.

an injury prone player is one ho gets injured frequently in one area, like a bad back or a bad arm.

Ronnie got his finger caught in a helmet and tore his ACL trying to make a tackle which isnt a position he should be in.
He's been the victim of bad luck more than anything(and yet he's still better than TJ:up:)

To be fair Jenkins was not needed anymore due to younger less expensive talent out performing him. Not to take anything away from him. Please stay on topic guys this is a good thread, I'd hate to see it get closed. Week one should be moved to primetime automatically now...lol.

He had 213 yards. Over 100 were accumulated in the 4th quarter while the Jets were in Prevent Defense.

Faneca will wear down eventually? Sure he will. Around 35. He's 31. Offensive Line have a long shelf life.

Jenkins was traded because he and the coaching staff did not get along and because they have solid depth in Carolina as well. Before he was traded they had three definite starters at the position, someone was expandable. Might as well be the person who doesn't want to be there and the coaches don't favor.

Richardson is still a beast. Adrian Peterson doesn't rush for as many yards as he does as a rookie if it isn't for Steve Hutchinson and Tony Richardson. He will help Thomas Jones and Leon Washington.

I thought about Faneca wearing down as well but thinking about it, I think they could still get two or three more good years out of him. As for Jenkins, I thought Jenkins was becoming a problem in the locker room and he had weight troubles? I believe weight trouble was one of them for sure but I don't see him having a problem with that now, that the Jets are paying him literally to stay at the right weight. I'm not sure with Richardson. I wasn't sure why the Vikings let him go for Tapeh of the Eagles.
