Though UM is not expected to have a first-round pick, this NFL Draft is deep in Florida talent, with 11 state players in ESPN's top 100. How the state prospects project: • First-round: 1. South Florida defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul ``has a chance to be a dynamic star,'' said Mel Kiper, projecting him 16th. "Dangerous pass rusher. He could be the Mario Williams of this draft.'' Concerns range from inexperience to ``mental capacity,'' ESPN's Todd McShay said. 2. UF's Joe Haden ``is clearly the top cornerback in the draft,'' said Kiper, who projects him to go 13th. 3. UF's Maurkice Pouncey. Draft's top center; Kiper has him going 18th. • Projected second-rounder, maybe higher: UF's Tim Tebow. ``Tim goes in the second round and it would not shock me if he went late in the first,'' said Kiper, who projects him as an H-back. He must ``expedite his throwing motion,'' ESPN's Jon Gruden said, ``but this is the most competitive guy you'll meet.'' • Second round: 1. UF defensive end Carlos Dunlap. ``He's got a substantially below average motor, doesn't play hard every play,'' NFL Network's Mike Mayock said. ``Fallen significantly to mid-to-late second round.'' 2. FSU's Patrick Robinson. ``The most talented cornerback in the draft but inconsistent and not very physical,'' Mayock said. 3. USF safety Nate Allen. Analyst/ex-Ravens scout Daniel Jeremiah: ``Plays the ball well but misses too many tackles.'' Projected third or fourth round; second possible: 1. UCF's Torrell Troup. At 6-2, 314, can play nose in 3-4. 2. UM tight end Jimmy Graham. McShay: ``It's hard to find human beings that are 6-4, 260 that run like him and have his athleticism. I don't think he's going to get out of the fourth round even though he may never be a full-time starter.'' 3. UF safety Major Wright. NFC scout: ``Smart and good speed, but speed doesn't always translate'' in defending deep balls. 4. UF end/linebacker Jermaine Cunningham. Had 19.5 career sacks. 5. USF receiver Carlton Mitchell. NFC scout: ``He's a catch one, drop one guy.'' In deciding not to keep Matt Roth (cut last November) or re-sign Jason Taylor, the Dolphins now have parted ways with the players who were seventh- and eighth-best in 2009 performance among all 3-4 outside linebackers, as ranked by profootballfocus.com.
