Before today’s #Dolphins scrimmage began, coach Brian Flores walked QB Ryan Fitzpatrick off the field with his arms around the QB. Fitz was clearly distraught. Did not play after suiting up in pads. Not injury related. Flores expected to address in a few minutes.

Flores: As a coach, as a friend, as a man, they're all intertwined in this game. Our conversations will stay private, but I went through this about a year ago. Our team is supporting him. Essentially that was my message to him.

Flores said it's "hard to say" if Fitzpatrick will be back in time for Sept. 13 opener at NE, which is two weeks from tomorrow. But Flores said knowing Fitz, he suspects he will try to come back as quickly as he can after the grieving process over the death of his mother.

That's terrible news....I figured the absence last week had to be a sick family member. May she RIP. I'm glad Fitz has a ton of support around him to get thru this.

Winning football games at any level comes down to winning in the trenches.

Fitz and I are almost exactly the same age. This is such a tough road to walk at times. My Mom has been gone for give years now and this road never gets easier to walk, you just get used to the feelings and emotions that come and go. I don't know...If you're Mom is still alive and you're close with her, then tell her you love her, wash her car for her, anything. It sucks when they leave you for sure.

I can definitely relate. I knew so many of my fellow soldiers in the army who had lost their parents years ago. I feel so blessed to have lived my entire 54 years with my parents still alive.
