Dude I agree its kind of borderline. BUT he had no right to shove the guy and the fact that he did it a couple of times and used an object to do, I could see this holding up.

Not why I posted it though I posted it because its funny as hell!

We have to beat them this week to make it really special. Especially with Edwards on the field.

he also had a huge whiney look on his face for being out of the spotlight on his little stoop for 5 seconds.
surprised this guy isn't trying to hold out for a publicity contract from the team, bc he obviously thinks he's worth it

It actually meets the legal definition of assault. Your not allowed to push someone out of your way simply because they are in your way (spot). He shoved him several times. To boot they share the stadium with the Giants so the gaints fan (or any other fan really) has as much right to start their own cheer as firemen inbred. If you watch the tape at no time did the giants fan lay a hand on firemen inbred.

Please. Enough already. That was a weak case of assault and I am sure the case goes nowhere. Next time you are in a crowd and are pushed, be sure to make a citizens arrest ;)

Didn't a Miami player beat his pregnant girlfriend? How can you get worked up over this?

    I agree.

But it's Fireman Ed getting arrested 4 days before a Phins game and 1 day after their star reciever gets busted. Classic, and this week will be one of those weeks that will live on forever. This game on Sunday better live up to the lead up, cause this has been awesome.

I wonder what the over under is on who gets arrested today. My money is on Vernon Gholston trying to steal a sack of potatoes..

I'd everyone in green was an "assault on the advancement of humanity" that day. To book one guy is just unfair.

The in-crowd bumping and incidental contact are one thing, but Ed was clearly targeting him for the contact. That's assault, as defined legally.

I don't see anyone here getting worked up about this, it's just funny that Ed thinks he 'owns' a spot in a brand new stadium and no one else can stand in it. Not like he's camped out there for 20 years and it's traditionally his or anything. Kind of like me going into Home Depot and shoving a guy out of 'my' space in front of the power tools. Just cause I hang out there a lot doesn't make it mine.

At least I think it's funny...

The guy is just looking for attention. Going to the police for that kind of incident should be grounds for having your man card revolked - permanently.

    EDIT: Another angle

Assault? Really? Guy should be ashamed.

okay so if you were that Giants fan you would have just walked away, no. Because with your reasoning he should have knocked fireman out right on the spot. He was pushing the guy and the giants fan didnt react physically he just decided to do something else and go another route.

I hope the judge rules that fireman Ed can no longer go inside of the stadium because he obviously can not keep his emotions under control while there.

Many other people have taken someone to court for less, and won. Usually about attention or $$, yes. I agree, most would not be in court for this, but in today's litigous society, not surprised at all. Maybe even a lawyer saw the tape and called him up...

I don't believe I would be in this position, but then again, the last time a loud mouth Jet fan got in my face at a game like that, it was almost a brawl. So then we could both be in court I suppose.

You guys are confusing civil with criminal suits. This guy doesn't have to run to the police and file charges or ask them to presss charges. The police can get ahold of the tape, find there is enough evidence and charge him. Thats' why it's called the State vs. Firemen Ed.

That is clearly battery. Battery can be any contact that isn't incidental or wanted. You spit a loogey on someone and that is battery.

The guy in the Giant jersey started it, and all he did was kind of push him away.

I think assault is a bit strong, lawyers are killing this country!

Man you Jets fans will really support your team no matter what happens. Mark Sanchez could've thrown a grenade into the hair salon he attends and kill 100 people and you'd justify that somehow....

It took two months for any charges to be filed?

Based on my obsessive watching of Law & Order re-runs, Ed’s shady and ambitious defense attorney will claim persecution and try to plead down to disturbing the peace with no punishment. The EDA will flip out and tack on unpaid parking tickets and public intoxication.

When does the trial start? :shifty:

Both guys are EPIC fail. Fireman for pushing a guy, and the giants fan for going to court about it.

You can choose to believe this or not, but if was "Miami Mike" pushing some ******** Jets fan, and the Jets fan pressed charges, I'd be calling him a ***** as well. This is just ridiculous. No one was hurt, were they? To call this assault if BS. My 13 year old daughter could have withstood that "assault".

This has nothing to so with supporting my team. I hope they lock Edwards up. I wish they would suspend him today. How is that for supporting my team? But if you think that what Fireman Ed did is worthy as an assault arrest, then maybe you, Sanchez and Beiber can go out for a night on the town.

eh you have to admit firemen ed shouldn't have gotten all pissy about what the giants fan did. If you want to call the giants fan a ***** for pressing charges over something so little, so is firemen ed for getting all pissy about what the fan did and feeling the need to shove the guy a couple of times.

Well first off I'm not worked up over this and highly doubt anyone else on this site is either. Only reason we even consider it news is its well, Firemen inbred. He's also associated with the team we love to hate.

As for your other questions you are once again off base. If you are in a crowd and someone just starts pushing you and knocking you down that is indeed assault.

As for Merling no one on this site took what he did lightly. I for one hope he gets dealt with harshly if found guilty.

True. It's too bad that pushing someone is simple assault now. That's why I refuse to get into fights b/c nowadays if you do, it's more about worrying you'll get sued rather than hurt.

It isn't like it used to be that's for sure
