Ya, I miss our battles in the PoFo. We probably should inject some life into the PoFo forum they setup for us.
Bust? He has over 1,500 total yards. Considering the state of this team, the offense, etc, he has been anything but a bust. A bust under-performs. A bust doesn't contribute in the way Ginn does. And honestly, if you had to choose between a QB with a leg injury, or a QB with an ARM injury, who would you go with?
Neither really. Both have to potential to blow up in your face. But the kind of injury Culpepper had prevented him from playing the way he used to, which was a scrambling, rushing, QB who found spots in the pocket to throw from. Cam is the type of drop back, stay in the pocket QB type of coach(like having a Marino or Manning behind center). Culpepper wouldve done ok if this were a West Coast offense or a an offense like Jeff Fisher's. Thats why Cam didnt want him here. Brees fits Cam's type of QB, and even with the shoulder injury, he looked pretty good in NO last year, and this year picked up his play after a rough start. However, we shouldve, back in 06, looked at what Brees had done recently compared to Culpepper, who barely played in 2005. Brees was solid up until his injury.
