http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article30647079.html so he got the rap for being passionate and outspoken about a guy who didnt care until he got his guys..like him even more..
Thank you Sonny for helping to get us a very talented and motivated player as a free agent. Through being a douche of course, but still... On the surface of it sure seems that McCain got screwed over, good to see him back on track.
Hoping this kid turns out to be a stud. Who is Sonny Dykes? Oh yeah, a 6-18 joke of a college coach in what is supposed to be a football hotbed. (yeah, I'll just go ahead and ignore is SunBelt conference record)
On December 5, 2012, Dykes was announced as the head football coach at the University of California, Berkeley.[8][9] Dykes' Golden Bears struggled in his first season, achieving a 1–11 record. In 2013 Sonny Dykes became the first Cal head coach since the University began playing football in 1886 to fail to defeat a single D-1 opponent in a season that has lasted at least five games. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Dykes Serves him right.
I'd be tempted to figure out how much it cost McCain in draft position and contract money because that douche kicked him off the team for speaking the truth. Then get a good lawyer and file some sort of civil suit. Not fair to get screwed for a lot of money just because some is an a-hole.
Hmm, tbh, his measurables were not outstanding coming into Draft 2014, he weighed in at 224 and ran a 4.67 (with a 4.51 shuttle which is great for someone his height). That said, this is also the way the league works, the coach may have been dog pooh and unsuited to the job, does not matter, McCain was supposedly just be a good lil soldier and suck it up or get red flagged
One thing to also point out it was Wake who gave him the simple pep talk to get him motivated to work out.
Thats why he's one of my favorite players. You get what you can take out of life, who gives a ish what anybody else got to say about me. That's mine, I want it, get your hands off it or I'm gonna make your momma cry!!! My kinda role model
I'm sure there's more to it than that. Chris McCain has bad enough foot-in-mouth disease as a 23-24 year old. Extrapolate what he might've been like as a 20-21 year old.
Lol...yeh Twitter is not his friend at times. Theres no doubt he has a passion for the game....but if I remember correctly, Omar was saying McCain had some "skeletons" and it didnt sound like it was just mouthing off at one coach...but thats all in the past. He could have walked the straight and narrow and it wouldnt matter. All that matters is how he handles him self now, and tomorrow. I like the guy alot...hope hes a Phin for a long time.
Passionate people are often not politically correct or reasoned in their reactions. It's not difficult to imagine a scene where a fired up C-mac is very disrespectful to his coach.
But clearly he wasn't mature. That's not uncommon among 21 year olds. When projecting whether a player is a good risk going forward I consider age and maturity. If a guy is passionate and can learn to be more mature as he ages then I don't ding him too hard for the immaturity. That's my read on this situation based on the report. McCain was probably passionate and was disrespectful to a coach he felt didn't care. There may be more to the story in terms of the extent of his disrespectful act, but that's not a huge red flag for me.
Yeah, it's not like he has a whipping room where he beats 4 yr olds bloody. Cuz he'd get a raise and a round of applause from the fans then. Sorry Raf, Didn't mean to drag you in to my rant. But I did it anyway.
Of course there are always two sides to every situation. So while I wish McCain every success with the Dolphins. Until I hear Dykes side pertaining to why McCain was dropped from the team, I have no way of knowing if McCain is giving us all the facts or not. Obviously as a college HC, Dykes isn't going to get into a pissing contest with a former player. So it is unlikely we will ever get his side of the story. What is in the past in regards to McCain is irrelevant at this point. All I want to see from him is to make plays like he did early last season and to become a player the Dolphins can count on for several years to come.
