Griddles set to start Austin Davis in 2015, go 10-6 and miss the playoffs. Or Davis gets hurt and sets up the Hundley era.
Could the NFC North be the first division to submit all their rosters? Only Paul is holding them back...
Sorry, this thread is for people that actually did something this year. So your opinion is invalid. Coffee is for closers.
Everyone should list their trades, FA pickups and draft in their final roster submission. Kind of a shame if you don't
yeh lets just hope he actually plays for NFL Comeback player of the year, instead of doing it all OVER AGAIN THE FIRST DAY OF CAMP. Arghhhhhh
Another GML Jags draftee goes down with an ACL... first Fowler, now Heuerman the Tight End. The rest of these guys should probably do some real light contact stuff until the regular season
Lucky we didn't draft any dolphin guys, we appear to be the kiss of death....serious question though, will it be held against us during the voting...I hope not.
Well it's going to depend on the voter's opinion. If Dante Fowler was going to be a big part of the defense that it would become a bit of a negative if some feel there isn't someone who is good enough to fill his spot. Whether it goes against you for best draft class if you were nominated for that...then probably it could go either way because your top rookie won't be able to help in determining his impact this year, but long term value could be impacted on projections of how well he would bounce back.
Im sorry, but thats going to be a huge crap sandwich if we are docked in any way because of injuries that happened after the draft. There has to be a degree of common sense taken when looking at a roster. Lets use Dante Fowler for example. Whos to say Jacksonville does not make a trade to change the situation. We are limited by what we can do to fix a situation by a deadline imposed in a league. Yet you want to apply re life NFL football logic to our injury situation. I can tell you right now, Im not going to be happy if this is how people plan to vote. I would not have held Miami hostage for taking La'el Collins in the first round, when he went as a UDFA, because how could BK have ever foreseen what was going to transpire. This is certainly something that needs to be spelled out before voting. What if a player gets into a car accident and breaks a leg and is out next season. You gonna ding a team because they didnt parse tea leaves to find out he was gonna bend his car around a pole?
I don't think so, the best team in this GML's QB is about to be suspend Atleast a quarter of the season....pretty sure he will still get votes.
Unfortunately it's just something that may happen, everyone has the right to vote the way they want. It's unfortunate that two of your rookies suffered ACL injuries so soon after the draft but it falls into the time frame where we are voting. Also we tend to vote based on what has happened in reality because we're not able to predict injuries or crazy situations that may occur in a players private life, but we can decide how it will affect a team in the upcoming season. You might not necessarily win the category where a team is expected to win now, because some might think Fowler was a key piece to the defense and with him gone it becomes less effective. However, you can still win one of the up and coming catergories because you can see more long term value. Not everyone is going to view things the same way, but that's the situation we're in voting so soon after the draft and well before the season starts. It's unfortunate because it's hard to bring everyone back for a after the year vote. I'll be honest, La'el Collins not going in the first round will affect how I vote for BuckeyeKing, just like how Alex44 gets dinged for taking Randy Gregory in the top ten. The real Cowboys who nabbed both of those players could have steals, whereas the GML teams didn't. It's just like Boik and Alfonzo Dennard a few seasons back when he went in the 7th round and he took him in the 2nd or 3rd. We have a better idea of outside factors that may affect the playing statuses of both Collins and Gregory now.
Right exactly...we gonna knock that person because they decided to keep Tom Brady as their QB, when they should of known he was a lying cheating bastard to begin with? Common sense has to play a role here
No...before we start voting I want a ruling on this. Because I respect you Schis and like you alot, and this is nothing personal but thats a load of crap.
I didn't agree with that logic then (Dennard) and I don't agree with it now. I judge a teams draft by how much I like the players and how I think they will perform. Can give a damn what anyone else thinks. I vote based on my own judgement of the player and how I think their career will go (e.g. Pro bowl or average or bust). And the reason I do that is players like Alfonzo Dennard who some people had concerns about so he dropped to round 7 in real life and I did not share those concerns and so I took him on day 2. So I got a good CB ahead of a lot of other teams who wanted him.
Gregory failed a drug test at the Combine, and there was plenty of warning signs about his character well before we drafted. NO WAY...could BK has know anything about Collins, I mean hell, many publications had Miami taking him at 14. Theres six inches between ears that is meant to be used for a reason
You really cant dictate how one man votes, these knuckleheads ignored a team I built last year that was maybe the best I ever assembled because I "lacked DL depth"...its comical. I doubt many veteran GM's will look at your draft and knock it for something like that. But what do I know...Aaron Rodgers, Demaryus Thomas, Eddie Lacy, Suh, Aldon Smith, Robert Quinn, Michael Johnson and a mauling OL wasn't even enough to get me in the top 3. Anyone tell Im bitter still??
Well I too hold in regards on how much I like a player to my prediction as well, but sometimes the lower a player is drafted the less of a chance he's given to make a team or get as much playing time. Dennard is just an example, he's moving on to his second team but has shown some ability and can turn things around and make himself look like he was worth the GML round value. I take some of what I believed before and have to readjust it based on the situation that comes from reality. Sadly the GML isn't a pocket universe because we use a lot of outside factors to determine our values and fits, so you just take the new situations and readjust perceptions accordingly.
Just like Patriots....gonna keep score. Take a look at Ajayi. Believe he went in the 2nd round here. Hell was a day before the real draft and Kiper still had him high on his big board. Then all the sudden word starts trickling out about some knee issue, and he drops like a prom dress. Reasonabley, how could anyone have known this was gonna happen, ESPECIALLY when its highly likely the knee injury story went out in HOPES he would fall.
Sure...but you have to also be cognizant enough to realize, there is only so much info we have at our disposal to make the roster decisions we did. Id hope you were smart enough to take certain things into account.
I am using my brain, to readjust situations that have occurred, it's not like I said I would ding BK harshly for the fall. A little sure, I would still project him to be a good starter in the league, but he also didn't get the maximum value. Like FinO said, you don't dictate how someone votes you just roll with it, everyone has their opinions. Personally I don't care about where votes fall, but I will nominate and vote for GMs because everyone put in time and effort and that's the only reason I do this part of the league, but I'll continue to give votes based on my judgement.
