You'll be happy to hear that Square is aiming for 60fps and 4k support on the Pro, then!

That's why I'm getting it. And this is laying the groundwork for the PC version, additionally. They can transfer the assets over to the PC version and call it done.

Some nice new screen shots, featuring Shiva, and the city of Altissia, as well as what appears to be a character info screen (its in Japanese)
Also, an interview with Square brand manager Shinji Hashimoto. It wouldn't likely be all that interesting, except for the fact that its someone official commenting on a lot of things that are usually pure speculation:
On Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac AgeAs for The Zodiac Age, the publisher has not yet decided the launch date, the aim is still to publish the game in time for the tenth anniversary.
On Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue
Hashimoto has announced that there will be no Kingdom Hearts HD 2.9, no comments regarding the launch window of Kingdom Hearts III.
On Final Fantasy VII Remake
The team is working hard to complete the work on the project, Hashimoto did not comment on the rumors that they want the game coming out in 2017.
On Final Fantasy X-3
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remastered sold very well and many expect a Final Fantasy X-3. At the moment there are no plans about it, Kitase and Nomura are busy with Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Kingdom Hearts 3, but Yuna and Tidus are very popular and are not excluded projects dedicated to them in the near future.
On Final Fantasy XIII
The series of Final Fantasy XIII sold in line with expectations, despite the negative opinions of the community, Lightning is an immensely popular character, and probably will not be abandoned.
On Final Fantasy XVI
Final Fantasy 16 could have a gameplay and a profoundly different design compared to Final Fantasy XV, as the direction of the saga may change according to the director, as in the case of Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy IX. Final Fantasy XVI, concludes Hashimoto, might not be an action RPG but it’s still early for this kind of feedback.
I'll point out here that the first question is actually BS now, since the game's 10th anniversary passed last month.
So basically the guy said nothing. The statement that Lightning is "immensely popular" is a bit off-putting, though.
As for FFXII, it's possible he's referring to the anniversary of the International Zodiac Job System, on which the HD remake is based. IZJS was released August 9, 2007. The ten year anniversary of that would be August 9, 2017. So we're looking at probably a late Q2 release in Japan, possibly delayed to Q3 if FF7r isn't ready to go this year.

I have to think that the FF12 remaster comes out in 2017, regardless of when the 7 remake is ready. If they're both good to go, I bet they just split them up by about six months. My wild guess is that 12 comes out in the late spring, and 7 is out at the end of the year.

I'll feel better about a late spring release if they do a marketing blitz in Q1 after FFXV's market impact passes.
7 absolutely needs to hit in 2017 for anniversary marketing reasons.

A good, hands-on review of the final build of the game. It seems that almost everyone who gets the chance to try it out comes away feeling really positive about it.
That does sound very positive. I'm feeling better about it as we get closer to release.

The more reviews like this I read, the more certain I am that I'm going to end up spending an inordinate amount of time in the early area of the game, exploring, leveling up, and figuring out the mechanics before I move on.

After being cold on it since its announcement, I warmed to FF13 a couple of weeks before launch. Boy, what a friggin' mistake that was.

I remember 13 being mostly a mystery before launch. I guess that was by design and choice, in retrospect. I bought it on name recognition, having loved all but one of the games in the series up to that point. But hey, they get a mulligan, after decades of good games. I have a good feeling about 15.

13 was a mystery because they had nothing substantive to show off... because it was an insubstantial game. It was a series of unrelated set pieces that were built by conflicting teams.
That said, at the time, I thought they were just trying to avoid showing spoilers in preview media.

Maybe a PS4 Pro isn't the best idea for this game right now. Though Square-Enix did promise a patch in December-ish with better PS4 Pro support, including 60 FPS.

I'm not sure if its my 4-year old laptop, my eyes, or my internet connection, but I honestly can't tell the difference between the regular PS4 and the Pro in all of those videos that are around.
YouTube compression ruins the finer details. There's still a clear difference in overall scene rendering.

I think it looks great on both. So far I dont think the improvements the Pro offers isn't enough for me to buy a new PS4. If i were buying one for the first time I'd certainly go that route.

A stable 60 FPS is reason enough for me to jump in on the Pro. I do not have a PS4 currently.

Something i was thinking about yesterday - we know that all of the main cast are human men, which is a departure from most FF games previously. However, are there even any non-human sentient races in the world of FF15? There are monsters/daemons of course, but I can't recall reading or seeing anything about any non-human NPCs, which is something that's been a staple of the series since the very start.

Nothing's been revealed. My guess is that we won't see much if any in the way of fantasy races.

I think you're right. Going off of the movie (which I couldn't get into) and everything I've seen, it looks like we'll be human characters. I'm sure a Moogle will make it's way in there as well as Chocobos (Totally possible this has already been revealed, I am not really one to keep up with trailers).

Pretty sure Chocobos were in the first demo.

Yes, chocobos are in the game. The Regalia car cannot go off-road, which gave chocobos a place in FFXV. Moogles are in the game as well, but more as mascot type characters than a legitimate alternate race, I believe.

I would love to get to a Moogle town at some point.
