My brother won a car today with a hole-in-one. He doesn't need a car. He is under the impression the dealership is self insured for this. Where should negotiations start?
Generally the sponsor of the tournament gets an insurance policy in-case someone wins. The dealer really has no incentive to buy the car back unless its really at a discount. So, and I cant believe I'm saying this, but Sick has it right. Pay the tax and sell the car on the open market.
No. He's just a lucky bastard. 14 handicap 4 holes-in-one to date. I didn't see the shot but wouldn't be surprised if it bounced off a sprinkler head.
Once the car is titled isn't it a used car? It would seem that if he can find out who's stroking the check he should be able to get a better deal from them.
Yeah it immediately goes into the used category. I've been around golf all my life and have never seen anyone not get what they won. Not saying it never has happened but....I'm thinking they pretty much have to award the prize. Greed is a ***** that is never satisfied so my advice is the same as above. Advertise it as it is. A car won at a tournament with 52 mi.(or whatever) on it and get that best price you can. Not a bad profit for a ball bouncing off a sprinkler head. I suppose if the insurance company agrees then a backroom deal could be reached. Normally the insurance company has a representative there at the tourney because he is playing in it .
