FIFA 09 Preview...

Not my type of game, but thought some may find some interest in this... Its a somewhat long preview... a bit of it is below.

First, we should say that there’s nothing that major planned for this latest iteration. Not much in the way of major overhauls, for sure. It’s more about tweaking and tuning. But when you consider that 250 core gameplay additions have been made to the game, you begin to realize that those tweaks and tunings maybe do add up to a major overhaul. Just not one that’s obvious from the get-go.

What FIFA Soccer 09 is trying to do is rebuild the game from the ground up. It’s not improving the experience by throwing in new content or game modes, but instead overhauling the game’s core experience. You’ll get features such as making the players move more realistically, especially when they come in contact to other players, as well as give fans of the series more options when it comes to strategy.

The first thing on the table is basic player movement. The developers have put a serious amount of time into making virtual players move much more like real ones. But that goes beyond just upgrading the animations. Digital players are governed more by physics now, visibly shifting their weight as they change direction while dribbling, exhibiting smoother ball-trapping animations.
