benny, bring me everyone what do you mean everyone EVERYOOOOOOOOOOOONE!!!! Gary oldmans a beat in that movie.....
The part when their coming out of the house and their dad unloads 8-10 diff guns on them, standing out in the open about 15 feet away, is one of the worst shootout scenes ever IMO. I felt like I was watching an episode of the A-Team.
Heat The end of "The Good the Bad and The Ugly" I don't know if you can call it a shootout, but the sequence in "Children of Men" when they infiltrate the immigrant camp.. Most intense scene ever for me.. If you haven't seen that film I highly recommend it. Saving Private Ryan- Every fight seen. I was shellshocked for 2 days after watching that movie.. Man did it bring out the brutality of war.. And made those soldiers look like the kids that they really were..

What a great idea for a thread. All of my favorites have been covered. The ends of Fistful of Dollars and the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly are probably my favorites. I love the one at the end of Scarface and the battle at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan was the most intense I've probably ever seen. Most Soldiers today wouldn't be able to imagine what those men must have went through. I know I can't. Landing on a beach full of dug in Nazis, your armored reinforcements have sunken in the channel, and no choice but to take the beach against all odds or die. Epic.
for those that have never seen it [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lq3zjTmVLbM"]YouTube - Open Range final shootout (part 1)[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3agDSq2DJA&feature=related"]YouTube - Open Range final shootout (part 2)[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00RfIVn8Yp8&feature=related"]YouTube - Open Range final shootout (part 3)[/ame] the first ones showing up as not available but if you click the link it seems to work....
The shootout at the end of The Wild Bunch is the best one ever IMO. My next favorite is the one at the beginning of The Wild Bunch. IMO, the best western movie ever made was The Wild Bunch.
thanks for bumping the thread MC... I have to go with the Heat shootout scene. What sets it at the top for me is the sound. Unbelievable sound quality. Since this is Oscar weekend, I wonder if it won an Oscar for sound?
That was a good one, tempered somewhat by the fact that it depicted actual events and real people died. I have lots of favorites, but I think the best has to be...
If you are referring to the "North Hollywood shootout" that bank robbery came after the movie. Boy I remember watching that thing on live TV. I'm a little surprised we haven't seen anything like it since, especially considering the current economic climate.
I love Heat. Shootouts aside, it's a great movie. Shootouts in mind, I love Tombstone. Val Kilmer killed it.
No, it wasn't even nominated for any Oscars. The closest thing was a nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing for a Feature Film for a C.A.S. Award from Cinema Audio Society, USA. That award went to Apollo 13.
