Thanks Ultra, I haven't visited the Citadel yet, but I did locate it. I'm trying to follow Mr. Crowley now, but I'm just gonna kill the bugger and take the keys myself and find Fort Constantine.
So I killed poor Harold last night in Oasis. Anybody find out what happens if you sap up or put that other junk on his heart instead of killing him?
the only thing it really changes is what you get for completing the quest IIRC. You get some special equipment from the people depending on if you give him the sap or the other thing.
yeah you either get a hat or a cloak or something (definitely not nearly as good as the defense bonus you get for killing him) i just did that one yesterday too, was certainly a fun quest
I killed the Mutant Behemoth last night. I was a little dissapointed at how easy it was. Spoiler as long as you stay in the elementary school, or any building, he can't touch you. I finished him off with the lazer rifle which turned him into a giant pile of ash. Tonight I'll get to find out what Three Dog has to say to me. I'm going to tell him to stop repeating the same news stories over and over again. It's getting old.
LOL - Three Dog is hilarious. I dont listen to his show that much though. Wait til you get to the Science Museum - it's a trip. I been milking this game - I may decide to go ahead an finish the main quest tonight. Are there any other must see places I should venture to before I do so?
Finally got into this game, def worth the wait. My only complaint so far is that it's been pretty close to impossible for me to get a sniper rifle. The one time I actually got one is when I killed a guy who had it. Problem is that I damaged the sniper rifle so badly when I killed him that I cant even use it now.
a good place to get a sniper rifle to begin with is Minefield. the old man you kill is the only one there, so its easy to get. also, once you play a while longer, you won't have to worry about caps. i have more than i can use for anything. definitely don't take that cap finder perk. won't need it also, just found the alien blaster pistol in the alien crash site. one of the coolest/best weapons inthe game, but i think the ammo you find with it is almost all you can get. great gun though- damage is around 100 and its only a pistol!
I bought this game over the weekend and have to say its worth the money (bought it at Gamestop used for $55) I haven't even touched the Main mission of finding Dad. I've been exploring the map and discovering new towns with Dogmeat, whom btw I havent had die even with a Super Mutant lighting him up with a Minigun. He proves quite useful in drawing enemy fire.
Dogmeat died twenty minutes after I found him. Whacked by a giant radscorpion. I hate those things so much.
I finished the first fallout with dogmeat alive.....(anyone who played that version is now very impressed)...I adore that dog and he is quite useful in this version of the game.
So I had something strange happen in the game. I was exploring the Springvale Elementary school. Somehow I missed it earlier in the game. I left and went onto other things and noticed Sydney's Ultra SMG was gone. I knew the last place I had it was the elementary school. I played for a couple days and yesterday decided to go back and look for it figuring I had accidentally dropped it in there. So I'm looking around all over the place and lo and behold some Raider starts shooting at me. I target him in V.A.T.S. and notice he's got Sydney's Ultra! So does that mean he stole it off of me, or did he find it on the ground and pick it up? Either way the depth and interaction in this game keeps finding new ways to amaze me. Also, this might be a dumb question, but can anybody tell me how to turn off my Pip Boy light (PS3)? The load screens keep telling me to do this when sneaking but I can't figure it out.
Hold down B. Btw, wow did I overhype the sniper rifle in this game. I'd actually prefer the stupid hunting rifle at times.
Thanks, but do you know what the PS3 equivalent is? I'll try holding down all the triangle, circle, square, x buttons and see if they work. I think the sniper rifle sucks too. Very rarely use it.
i haven't played the PS3 version, but I'd have to assume that the 360's "A" button corresponds to the PS3's "Circle" button.

Funny thing is after he got lit up with the mingun I checked his vitals and they were all over 95%. I did give him a stimpak upon acquiring him, maybe thats why he stays alive?
i still use the sniper rifle from long range. never use it with VATS though, you can get a lot more accurate shots just looking through the crosshairs with it zoomed. i usually run around with Ol' Painless, The Terrible Shotgun and a A3-21's Plasma Rifle at this point. I occasionally use other weapons but those are all clutch.
yeah, the sniper rifle in VATS sucks. I found a unique one, called Victory or something like that, when I was exploring shacks. It knocks enemys down when it hits them which was awesome.
yeah i just found a unique one today in the NW corner at the tabernacle church. a dude there had it. think its called enforcer or something. i'm currently angry though because i spent about 20 minutes exploring after a save out inthe wasteland and then i accidentally fell off a bridge and died and i lost so much work.. bah
I was playing last night and the game froze everytime I tried to go back to Raven rock. It was pretty annoying. If the game doesn't want me to go there, block it off or something.
These stupid Mirelarks and Deathclaws are annoying as hell. I'm in Vault 92 and their all over the place.
Just wait till you go to Old Olney (somewhere in the northeast i believe). The place is crawling w/ deathclaws...
Thats right by Vault 92 isnt it? I went through there a few times and ran into at least 4 of them. I dont have the guns to wipe them out so I duno if its worth it to keep trying.
The trick to killing the Deathclaws is Spoiler to make the dart gun on your workbench and shoot them in the leg, then switch guns and just demolish them. The dart gun auto cripples limbs, so they are basically immobilized
Yeah, it is pretty close to 92... in that area I believe that there are around 6 or so deathclaws on the surface and once you go underground there are another 6-8 or so. One weapon that I have found to be effective in killing them is Lincoln's Repeater... its a nice little rifle w/ about a 52 damage rating. It also helps hugely if you can get off an attack before being noticed. Spoiler Also, once inside Old Olney (underground) there is a good piece of armor. It has the ability to give you Med X when you are hurt and it alerts you when a threat is near because it has that same annoying Mr. Gutsy voice built into the armor.
Does anyone know if there decided advantages to Leveling Up your player a certain way? I'm taking the Big Guns/Small Guns approach but Ive noticed many are going the Melee route exclusively.
Melee really? i'm about to beat it for a 2nd time and think that might be one of the skills i used the least. I always do repair, and then small guns. i think my third choice was kinda random between: energy weapons, lockpick, science
Supposedly If you level up Melee as your primary and put heavy points in explosives its a dangerous combo. I know in Diablo II you could only beat the game on Hell mode if you leveled your skills a certain way. Wondered if this was similar but apparently not.
Didnt get that gun yet. I only know how to make that Railgun right now. Not that I could anyways because I've never seen one of the parts I need.
i'm just mad because i didn't realize how many skill books there are (25 each) and with the comprehension perk, if you can just get every skill to 50 through your leveling points, you can max out everything. but now since I put a few of the skills (big/small guns, lockpick, etc.) up to like 75 without books, there are just wasted points out there. I'm currently maxed out or near maxed out on a few of them, and my favorites are certainly lockpick (makes things easier all round) and energy weapons. I've been rocking the Tesla Armor, Enclave Officer Hat and A3-21 Plasma Rifle. you basically destroy everything.
