Yes it is true and here is how things will go down (I haven't seen this posted elsewhere so if it is forgive me): I know this has been a hot topic on here for awhile so I thought I'd post the news. Good thing for Fallout 3 PS3 owners but not so much for Sony as I'm sure the 360 version having the earlier release dates will get them more money. Just another example of companies going cross platform to make more money (which makes you wonder if the GTAIV DLC will indeed come to the PS3 and if MGS4 is going to the 360). I guess I should have just kept the PS3 version instead of trading it in for a copy on the 360. Oh well, I lost my level 20 saved game anyway when my old PS3 crashed. I would have had to play through again anyway but swapping it cost me almost 20 bucks. This is good news for PS3 owners. I know I really felt cheated initially on this whole deal.
Didn't know you traded it, I actually thought about posting to update you because I remember you were upset about the whole ordeal. Like I said though its just another sign true third party exclusives are almost done.
Well... It was never advertised as an exclusive at all from what i remember. In fact, I'm pretty certain Bethesda were the only ones that said it was a PC and 360 exclusive for the time being. Maybe it just took longer to make.
I thought that was MS's big to do last year at E3 when they showed Fallout 3 and made the announcement that the 360 would be exclusive DLC holders? As far as I know that was the case and this was a surprise.
I thought that was a GTA4 thing... didnt think that was for Fallout3 also. I could be wrong. My memory is mush nowadays. I blame my woman
I just remember the Microsoft press conference and they brought the Betheseda (or however you spell it) guy up to demo the game and they announced it would be exclusive DLC for the 360/PC. Even judging from the posts/threads in this gaming forum everyone seemed to think it was a 360 exclusive until now as well, but you could be right as well Mor, I just thought I remembered hearing it was 360 exclusive.
"Exclusive...for a time." Like Bioshock. The real damage has been done already though. Anyone who had the opportunity to buy the game on either system went with the 360 version knowing they'd get the DLC sooner rather than later. That's why exclusivity will continue. Console manufacturers need to sell more software than their competitors, so they will continue to fight over exclusivity on DLC stuff. Don't forget that some companies, like Rockstar, were well compensated for their exclusivity agreements. It's like Batman Arkham Asylum. Ps3 owners will get exclusive Joker DLC that 360 owners won't. If i had a ps3, id get that version.
Yeah but now it seems like I jumped the gun. Yeah I was definitely upset. Not a huge deal, I got enough credit from trade-ins at Gamestop to not have to pay for the new copy anyway. It's been fun playing through again as a bad guy. It's also helped having a more focused approach on my leveling up this time through. I'm only up to 8 though, I've got a ways to go to get back to 20.
I know all acounts say Broken Steel is well worth it, but my question is, after reading about the perks, it seems that they are all realllly stoopid, except the perks you can get at level 30, and perhaps the dogmeat perk. but other than that, they all seem really lame. thoughts?
I understand how it works Snips but my argument is that as long as what is at one point "exclusive" ever finds its way onto another system it isn't really exclusive. Your argument is true and I alluded to it earlier (in my first post I believe) saying that the delay is good for PS3 Fallout 3 owners but not Sony. An exclusive has to remain only on one system, so exclusivity I think is dead but as you said "timed" exclusivity is far from it.
As long as the systems are relatively similar of course in terms of hardware like the Ps3 and the 360. (it is kind of ridiculous in the end all the fanboy banter about them when they both are around the same exact level) Right now the Wiis...ahem...unique...controller keeps most of its games exclusive. I wonder what'll happen when Sony and Microsoft announce their motion controllers? CARNIVAL GAMES FOR EVERYONE WOOOO!!!
Probably nothing at all because the systems aren't really built to support that as a main feature such as the Wii. We'll see though.
