It is being reported that the Packers do not plan on resigning AJ Dillon. I think he would be an absolutely fantastic addition to the team, and he could carve out a much needed role. One area in which always makes me queasy as a Miami fan is short yardage situations. I would love having a guy like AJ Dillon on the roster to come pick up those really difficult yards. Moreover, I think that going into places like Buffalo late in the season or other cold weather, snowy, or rainy games (like the KC game), we could use a mudder. With so many backs hitting free agency, I don't think that Dillon would be all that expensive either.
There’s also talk and rumors floating around about Derrick Henry wanting to join the Dolphins. I would have a viagra induced erection if that were to happen!
I heard that too, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how that would work. He is up there in years, but I still feel like he is a starter in this league. Raheem is coming off of the performance of a lifetime, but I am not even convinced that he is gonna be our starter next season. I have a feeling it would be a 60-40 split in favor of Achane. I don't think that you could relegate Henry to a role like Dillon, and I also think that you would need to pay Henry fairly well for his services. Let's just say split carries perfectly evenly at 33-33-33, how much could we really justify giving him? Don't get me wrong, I would love having him in Miami, but I just cannot figure out how it would happen.
If they can’t get Henry, then I would rather see them go with Chris Brooks before signing Dillon. It will be interesting to see what we’ll do with our RB room next season, especially with Mostert having injury issues and Achane also hurt in his first season and being on the smaller side.
He caught my eye during the preseason, and I was honestly hoping to see more of him during this season. I wanna throw something your way tell me what you think. Let's start off with an assumption - Jeff Wilson Jr. is getting cut. He is too expensive for such a limited role. That leaves us with: Mostert, Achane, and Brooks Although Mostert stayed relatively healthy, he is getting up there in age and has traditionally struggled to stay healthy. Achane is a smaller back who had injury problems this season too. Suppose Mostert or Achane got hurt and missed significant time. Are you comfortable going forward with Mostert/Achane and Brooks?
Not really, thought that was obvious when I wrote that Mostert has injury issues and that Achane is on the smaller side and was also injured in his first season.
I just want them to run it. Hard to say you can't when you don't. This does not include a 4 yard pitch behind the line to get 2 yards.
Funny you should mention that. I watch a lot of football with my buddy, and the four yard pitch is his mortal nemesis.
