I loved that hit...and and totally blown away by another B.S. call by the zebras. Football is disappointing me more and more week by week. It is becoming a game for pansies. To me football is supposed to be "hard knocks". That's what it's reputation is. If you can't take the physicality of the hits, then watch baseball. This is a man's sport, a CONTACT sport. I'm not asking that guys be allowed to chop block, or spear or anything that is intentionally done to injure another person, but all of these new rules being made up to protect these guys is starting to wear thin on my nerves.

This hit was a great, textbook hard hit. As you'll see in the .gif posted by Phin-o-rama, he led with the shoulder. If he wanted to really hurt Welker he could have hit him high in the head. Since when is putting your shoulder into a WR's chest with all of your might unsportsmanlike?

It's the safety's job to make these guys think about running routes in the middle of the field. They are supposed to make those hits, that's why guys like Welker, Camarillo, Keyshawn, Hines Ward, O.J. Mcduffie, etc are/were so great. They knew the risks of going over the middle, yet they never backed down and made the great grabs and took the punishment that comes along with crossing routes.

Color me sick when I think about football, where it has gone in the last 10 years, and how bad it will suck in the next 10. We might as well be playing flag football. No wonder the NFL has licensed apparel companies to make pink NFL jerseys for each team.

Paid the price for catching all those little dinks and dunks that frustrate defenses. Pats got OWNED! Sorry Wes.......not.

I'd take the hit and I'd take the penalty. If Welker did get back in the game, he would know that someone was in the middle of the field. That little sucker has been running free across the field for far too long.

    Back in Miami
couldn't happen to a better guy unless it had been Moss.

    The penalty was crap too.
Sick of the BS calls refs make on a regular basis now.

I too found his past comments as treason, yet nevertheless was glad to see him walk off the field on his own, after that monstrous hit.

The fact that Welker happens to be a traitorous, disloyal worm, is separate, and apart from the tenacity and reckless abandon in which he manages to exploit the middle of the field.
But despite whether you view his record as impressive or not, its clear Karma is also watching, and displaying some rather impressive tenacity of its own.

I GUARANTEE regardless of whether or not that shouldve been a flag (I am on the fence personally, and no I dont care for Wesley Wanker and his comments) that is going to shorten his career.
The human body can only take so much abuse, and Wes is definately one of the tougher guys in the league, but that was a VERY VERY violent collision.

Yeah, but you can understand the league position about hits on "defenseless recievers"

Here is another video from earlier this season that shows similar hits, and that the refs want to have this called 10 out of 10 times. They are consistent it seems:

Yes brother, I absolutely do understand the new way they are approaching this.

Seriously, a hit like this could easily finish a players career, and no I dont wish that, not even on Wesley K Wanker

I'm coming into this discussion late, but I must agree that Welker has no class. You don't have to be T.O. or Chad Johnson to be classless. Welker's trash talk about Miami after he joined New England + the "you suck" incident proves he has no class.

People get confused, cause he's a scrappy white guy. Scrappy white guys can be scumbags, just like anyone else. Screw Welker. I'm glad he got his bell rung!

Of the 3 hits shown....NE vs. PITT; NYG vs. PITT, and PHIL vs. ATL which seemed the most vicious?

My pick....NYG on PITT....he got hammered from a high low! UGLY!

Not sure why this is still up here.
I don't like Welker, or that organization by any means. That was one hell of a hit. But keeping it up here because nobody likes him and he gets his snot knocked out? C'mon. And don't give me the whole "he's an ex fin players" He hasn't played a snap for the dolphins in nearly two years. No need to keep this video up in the main "Miami Dolphins Section" Personally, Im not worried about Welker or the Patriots. As far as im concerned, we are done with them until sometime next year.

The video I posted was to explain the rule and show other hits and how the NFL is ruling on such plays. Regardless of thread topic and context, that is what I was discussing throughout the thread with my posts.

Personally, if you read any of my posts on this issue, you will see my posting inst about Wes Welker and any like or dislike....but other than that....carry on.

    Oh, okay.
Ive watched the video when it was posted, and read few pages. Looked like it was turning in to another Wes Welker Lovers VS Haters discussion. Didint bother read the rest. You would agree that the heading doesn't hint anything about "The Rules" being discussed? ;)

Yeah, I simply used the "old thread" to post related content today as an update to the discussion....which was the OFFICIAL REVIEW segment of NFL Network which I personally love. Pereira is outstanding in breaking down and explaining things (including saying his refs missed something).

The call on the field was unsportsmanlike, but Pereira now thinks it was a bad call, but he also goes on to explain that a defender can leave their feet to make a hit - which is something we were also discussing in the thread.

Anyway, I saw his analysis of the Welker hit, and simply posted a comment to update and close the thread from the REFS perspective.
