Miami entertainment figures Gloria and Emilio Estefan could be announced as Miami Dolphins minority owners Thursday, a move that would continue a show business-ification of the team under new majority owner Stephen Ross.
The Dolphins announced a Thursday morning ''major announcement on behalf of the Dolphins'' hosted by the Estefans and Ross at LandShark Stadium. This is similar to the way the Dolphins announced their association with singer Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville business, which includes Land Shark Lager. The expectation is that Buffett also will be a minority owner soon.
The Associated Press is reporting that the Estefans will be minority owners. Emilio Estefan didn't want to comment on anything at this time. Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said the Dolphins, ``Won't have a comment on anything until the announcement Thursday.''

I can hear the moans and groans from the same Peanut Gallery that was all upset over the Buffett deal but really who cares?
It's all about bringing notoriety to the Phins and bringing in some fans through glitz. As long as we have a top football mgmt. team in place, let Ross do whatever he thinks necessary to build the fan base.

The most upsetting thing that happened to me in the time I've lived in FL was the last time (2002?) the Fins made the playoffs before this season, the game was BLACKED OUT!
Not only frustrating, could not watch the game, but that was damned embarrassing if you ask me! Ross can bring in 150 minority shareholders, as long as they all help put fans in seats, and Ross leaves Parcells/Ireland/Sparano alone to do what they do. I am ALL for it! :up:
