John Elway says he had no problem with Jay Cutler calling out a teammate last week. But it's not how the Broncos' legendary quarterback would have done it. He would have kept his conversation with Brandon Marshall behind closed doors. Upon being told what Elway said, Cutler said he was surprised his comments last week about Marshall had gotten so much attention. "If I would have known it was going to be such a big story and get picked up by the national media like it did, I probably would have chosen my words a little more carefully," Cutler said. http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_8866753
Come on Cutler... you've got to be smarter than that. The Brandon Marshall story was already a nation wide sports media story, then you go out and blast him in the media and expect it to be nothing??? It would be nice if some guys would think before speaking sometimes.
Probably a better way to handle it than the way Cutler did but I don't see why Elway had to put his two cents into the matter. A guy with as much to lose as this guy is horseplaying? Sounds fishy to begin with or just really dumb. Cutler was probably just frustrated, this is a huge year for Cutler and the Broncos, if they don't make some noise Shanahan might be on his way out and that might spell the beginning of the end for Cutler. Having your top wideout horseplaying in the house in the offseason wouldn't sit well with me either.
Cutler is always running his mouth. I think until Cutler shows that he is a little better than Jake Plummer he should not be talking about his teamates.
