ECONOMY: Region's unemployment worst on record

The region's jobless rate rose to the highest level on record last month as companies across the economy shed employees, according to data released Friday by a state agency.
The monthly report from the Employment Development Department showed 9.3 percent of workers without a job in San Diego County, the highest level in data going back to 1990. The state's unemployment rate rose to 11.5 percent, its highest level in 33 years of data that covers the 1982 recession, considered to be the worst since the 1950s.

I agree. They are predicting even more layoffs through 2009 here.

best case scenario is we bottom out in mid/late 09, while most think it worse will be in 2010.......
i believe once the foreclosures slow down, then we willl be ALMOST out of the woods

Foreclosures here are really picking up steam sad to say.
