So back in 1976, an asteroid passed halfway between us and the moon? And no one knew about it until last year? Or did I read that wrong?
just because it was within 0.5 lunar distances, doesn't necessarily mean it passed between the earth and the moon.
I understand that. I was using the moon as perspective. Exactly. In an astronomical sense, we were grazed, but just found out about it. Kinda scary, but that was 1976. At least we have a lot more eyes to the skys these days.
