11 hours in and barely scratched the surface. Level 7 rogue. The only problem with the enemies not leveling with you is that you don't know your not supposed to be there until they wtfbampowown you. You can be fine in one area...move 20 feet in the same area and just get slaughtered.

Although finding that dragon at level 4 was funny. "Oh hi there........." dead.

Picked it up today but laptop can't handle it so I'll have to wait on a new one to get here. My laptop has done an admirable job over five and a half years and knew I'd have to replace it soon so not too sad about it. I guess I'll join in on the fun a little later.

i remember the same things happening to me in the gothic franchise. i kind of like it, always keeps you on your toes.

im about 5 hrs in and i think the game so far feels like it is a definite return to form for the series.

8 hours in and I'm loving it. Definately borrowed a lot from Skyrim, and thats a very good thing. Exploring and doing side quests.

Game did not need to load onto the PS4. I was expecting it to be huge, since my only other two PS4 games (MLB The Show and Madden) required really big loads onto the system's hard drive.

There was a 150 MB update which you'll need to do anything online. It also apparently corrects the game from crashing the PS4 and XBOX.

I restarted for the third time. I have played at least 10 hours. On the 10th hour I finally figured out how to use the war room. Too busy wasting my power on other quests and not going to talk to the Chantry.

    I am a dummy.

Power is how you unlock quests and areas in the war room. There is the quest that you need to do in the Hinterlands that, after you speak to the commander of the area, you need to complete 4 quests. The 4 quests will give you 4 power.

Then once you get 4 power you go back in the war zone, select Orlais and there you can go talk to the Chantry. Which is the next part of the quest.

My dumb *** thought it was all in Fereldan, and kept using my power to unlock areas, areas I am not ready to go to. One area cost 8 power to open. Now I have zero power and I need to get 4 more. Shouldn't be too hard. There are plenty of quests.

I didn't go to the War Room at all until I had 12 power. Planning on leveling up to 8-10 before I go to the Chantry. At 4 right now.

Going to the Chantry opens up getting most of your new characters. I would go there, I saw no benefit of waiting.

Agreed. I was lvl 7 before going there and was like "duh". I had spent all my time wandering around the initial map they give you that I had basically been doing sidequests for nearly 7 hours of it lol.

Started over as a mage. Pew Pew with the lightning.

I spent half my time last night getting my *** royally kicked by enemies. Found a one hit death monster that looked like one of the bulls on he redcliff farm.

I'll put it this way - I've been looking forward to this game for several years, basically since I was done with Skyrim. Huge amount of hope and expectations, and its living up to it completely so far. And I'm still just in the first area of the game.

Origin, shut up and take my money! Sorry Gabe, I hope I am not forsaken.

EDIT: Anyone try the coop? Is it possible to do the entire campaign/side missions with a friend like borderlands?
EDIT2: Answered my own question. YT vid in spoiler if anyone interested.

i was the same. after dragon age II i had 0 interest in this game. then i read user reviews and watched youtube reviews and picked it up. now im addicted to this game. when im at work i just want to get out to go back to it

there is so much to do and a lot of the quests are actually interesting. sure you find a lot of your typical kill this or gather this type of quests but there are a lot more that you actually want to do and make you actually think. this is definitely my game of the year.

I was probably going to get it no matter what. I was very disappointed in Dragon Age II, however there were a lot of cool things in that game.

This game is taking everything I liked in Dragon Age II and put it into Origins.

Plus it adds things I love in games. I love the fact that me doing stuff changes the world in ways I can see. Even if it is little things like a battle ground being empty.

I am loving this game so far.

Went to the Chantry, and you're right, no reason not to go as soon as you can. Got three characters, and will likely get another soon. With how I play and the types of enemies I'm fighting right now, I may start rolling with a 3 warrior, 1 mage party for a while.

Think you guys might enjoy the Dragon Age sub reddit. It will only fill up with very useful thread topics. May be a little premature now to get anything of value out of it but check it out from time to time. Will be good for tutorials, build info, etc.

    http://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/

For example, found this there. Want to make Daenerys Targaryen as a your playable character? Check this guy's sliders that he posted on reddit.

Ok make sure you have Iron Bull in your party. I usually have him with either Sera or Cassandra and they have the most hilarious conversations out in the wild.

There was a couple conversations between him and Cassandra that had me in tears laughing. One was about woman warriors with their fancy breast plates that provided no real cover and the boobtastic mess left behind in one shot. The other was a conversation about his race's woman being treated like men if they choose to be warriors and Cassandra asking if he saw her as a man. With perfect timing he said something along the lines of "With your armor on or off?".

Glitch alert. Soon after getting to Skyhold, my character suddenly changed from an American accent to a British one. I don't want to make a spoiler for those who haven't gotten this far yet, but I do know exactly when it happened. I'll have to blow a respec token to fix it, I suppose. If thats even possible.

This game is going to be a completionist nightmare I'm 60+ hours in and I'm still not done with Hinterlands or done a single upgrade to skyhold or picked up a full mosaic or all the shard pieces in any single zone..or slayed a dragon etc etc etc. loving it.

I'm 30 or so hours in, level 13, and I see virtually unlimited things to do ahead it me. The game continues to be just the right level of challenge for me. Took over a fort last night and ended up with zero health potions and all of my guys at about 20% health as I killed the last enemy.

Anyone playing on the 360? Finances dictating that I likely won't have the One for awhile (even with holiday deals). Hearing mixed reviews about the graphics - noticeably bad or just inferior to next gen but fine compared to other 360 games?

Be sure to do the table quests. I am three main quests away from finishing the game and I still have a lot of table quests to complete.

im playing on the xbox 360, it does take a graphical hit and sometimes you get some screen tearing here and there, but i still think it is a decent looking xbox 360 game.

Cool, I know it won't look as good as the other platforms, but as long as it's comparable graphically to other 360 games I'm fine.

If you haven't gotten the game yet, here is a little advice. Get to Skyhold as fast as you can. I feel i missed a lot of the social interaction because I waited to get there.

this game has a very cinematic feeling to it, it feels like you are playing some epic movie which is something i have been missing from past rpg's. the scenes leading up to skyhold are just amazing.

What level did you get to before you went? I was at level 9 for the final battle before that point, and it was so rough that it took me five tries and even then it was by a thread. I would recommend that no one try it before then unless they are REALLY good. And I was having a fairly easy time with regular battles up to that point too.

I don't remember exactly. I was always at least two levels ahead of the recommended level and by that time all I had on the war room was gather coins.
