OK so what would be your plan after this season? Who do we get and how do we aquire him? Maybe a better question would be this. What would you have done for 2024 if Tua's 5th year option wasn't picked up?
You must have missed it. He suggested trade Tua for multiple 1st round picks, then acquire one of these guys "and see what happens" from this powerhouse list: Cooper Rush Zach Wilson Davis Mills Jameis Winston Ryan Tannehill Kenny Pickett Justin Fields Sam Howell
Didn’t he also have Mac Jones on that list? He actually said that Mac Jones would be a better QB than Trevor Lawrence for the Jags. The guy is either trolling or simply knows as much about football as my 8 year old daughter. My bet is it’s the former, but the latter is also possible.
I don't think Mac made his list but he did suggest he can be better than Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville.
As much as I despise Belichick, he had one mantra that held true…Do Your Job. Stats can’t be viewed in a bubble. Hell, I made arguments for Tannehill based on the fact stats weren’t everything. With that being said, STATISTICALLY, Tua is doing his job in the passing game. Other than asking him to don a cape and leap tall buildings in a single bound, there’s nothing MORE he can do. His game is off the charts. Now…if everyone will recall, how many dropped passes did our receivers have last season that resulted in lost touchdowns? I can remember one in particular that Hill dropped and was laughing about it. How many times did the defense drop the ball, failing to stop teams on 3rd and long…and allowing the Titans for example to score 2 touchdowns in less than 2 minutes? When the team as a whole fails to do it’s job, the fault lies with the team, not an individual player.
In March of 2023 it made good sense to exercise the 5th-year option of Tua's rookie contract. For example in case the 2023 season was successful , the option year the team locked Tua up with the Dolphins for the 2024 season as well. Now due to the team's dismal 2023 season, especially the late season collapse, it's become clear that even with a loaded roster a Tua-led Dolphins is not good enough to make it to a SuperBowl. So, prior to the recent draft the team did have an opportunity to shop Tua around the League. My thread over at Tuaheaven Forum was to solicit opinions of whether there would be interest from other teams and, or, what they might be willing to trade. Instead of answering the thread topic's question, most replies were "Tua is not going to be traded". I still wonder if the Bears, Commanders, or Patriots would have been willing to trade away their Top 3 draft position for Tua ? My guess is no. My guess is that some team would have given up a 3rd or 4th round pick. The Steelers gave up a 5th round pick to the Bears for Fields. If Tua's 5th year option was not exercised he would have been a free agent and my best guess is that a few team's would bid against each other with one eventually signing Tua to a one-year $15 million prove it contract or maybe a 2-year $25 million contract.
I do not believe any team was willing to give up their first round draft pick to acquire Tua. My best guess is that had the Dolphins entertained offers Tua a team would have offered their 3rd or 4th round pick. If the Dolphins were willing to give up their 3rd or 4th round pick I expect they could have acquired Mills from Houston or Fields from Chicago. Mills would have given them a pure pocket passer similar to Tua and Fields would have given them a run-threat QB.
The Dolphins 2023 season was dismal? For real? Let’s recap the season, shall we? The Ravens led the league, 13-4. The Cowboys, Lions and 49ers were next with 12-5 records. The Bills, Dolphins, Browns, Chiefs and Eagles were 11-6. The Steelers, Texans and Rams followed with 10-7 records. Rounding out the playoff teams were the Packers and Rams at 9-8. Dismal season? We had the same record as 5 other teams going into the playoffs. We had a better record than 5 other teams going into the playoffs. The two teams that made it to the dance had records of 12-5 (49ers) and 11-6 (KC). The Dolphins season was anything but dismal.
On one hand you tout “loaded roster” and Tua’s inability to win (which isn’t a QB stat) and on the other you totally disregard the fact that the “loaded roster” was decimated at the end of the season. Stop trolling
At week 12 the Dolphins were in position to win the AFC East and secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs. But instead of that happening the team collapsed, losing 3 of its final 5 games to barely make the playoffs. Yes, it was a dismal season, and similar to the prior year when the Dolphins lost 5 of their last 6 games.
I am not sure if you are brand new to watching football but please try to understand that every NFL team roster suffers injuries, it's part of the game. Also, a perspective different from yours is not "trolling" it's just one different from your. Instead of calling out other participants here as trolls I suggest you read instead of write, and from that you might learn something. Hope this helps.
You don't think trading Tua for a 4th round pick and then flipping it for Davis Mills would have been the right move?
You and I measure “dismal” with a completely different measuring stick. 2022: 9-8 First year head coach loses wildcard playoff game on the road by 3 points…with the 3rd string quarterback starting. 2023: 11-6 loses wildcard playoff game on the roars in the 3rd coldest game in NFL history to the eventual and defending Super Bowl Champions. While some may resort to name calling (troll), I on the other hand provide facts and circumstances. While you look at records in vacuum, I look at entireties through factual realism.
Your differing opinion isn’t what makes you a troll. Your inability and refusal to use context and not contradict yourself is what makes you a troll. On one hand you claim the Dolphins have a loaded team and yet when those players that make the team loaded aren’t playing you refuse to acknowledge it with the “all teams suffer injuries” mantra. No, not all teams lose half of their starters. Again, you’re either trolling or know as much about football as my 8 year old daughter. I think it’s the former, but the latter is possible.
What you've written here is that your 8-year old daughter knows more about football than you do. So, my suggestion is that when the games start up again this coming Fall you watch them with her, listen to what she tells you, and learn something.
Trolls aside, the inarguable fact is, whatever you think about Tua, he's going to be our QB this coming season. Another inarguable fact is, there is no one better we could have gotten this offseason. We can argue whether Tua is good enough to take us through the playoffs, but there ain't no one else for the time being.
Wow… I’m impressed with your brain power. The way you flipped that around… astounding. It’s almost as brilliant as your trolling.
You all are making my head hurt. I go away for a few days and THIS... I'm not even going to try and clean this mess up. Can we just get back to talk about football???
Most people complain when things are negative, or they need to complain, or express disappointment. Very few call their friends up and say "hey I just called to tell you how great everything is." Good news does not sell either. If winning and the team is doing great, what is there to discuss or complain about?
There are currently at least 20 ridiculously overpaid NFL quarterbacks. There is no good sense reason for the Dolphins to make the same mistake so many other teams have made.
How many of those 20 QB’s have been MVP candidates for 2 years straight and lead the league in multiple QB passing stats?
I disagree with how fast he plays. I think he throws it whereever coach tells him to throw. The Hard Knocks episode where coach says "i'm going to get Waddle involved then next play Tua throws to Waddle is an example.
Not a bad thing when it’s scripted and option Nr. 1 is open. I want to see Tua improve, when things not go as planned.
lol… Tua doesn’t just throw it to who he’s told to throw it too. @dolphin25 just doesn’t understand how this works. In his example, McD and Tua noticed a common defense being played by the other team and McD called a play that would take advantage of the defense. Tua, his WR’s, and coaches all communicate what they’re seeing and McD calls plays. I mean, this is the norm. So I guess all QB’s are just throwing it to whomever the play caller says to throw it to? Lmao
Aquapride’s Tua replacement, Justin Fields, may see some playing time next season… as a KO returner! What a great QB! Lmao https://www.sportsmockery.com/chica...tin-fields-in-pittsburgh-keeps-getting-worse/
