    i have a 1 and two 2s.

recently i've traded the 1 pick away for a position player that's young and good or for a second and X round pick. I want to keep the 1st this year.

my team won the SB last year so it's not a bad team.. what position do you draft with a 1 and why?

    madden btw.

What position do you need? Are draft classes involved? If you have a draft class downloaded, then you can get really good players in the second round. I got Michael Johnson and Brian Orakpo LOL. Oh yeah and Sam Bradford in the third. Ridiculous, I know.

i've got '08 on a PS2. i created jake long, henne and langford (using a stat sheet of '09) no draft class. my oline is solid as is the right side of my defense (i've got a tackle and an end who i think are budding). my LBer corp is solid w/ crowder/gocong/wimbly and my safties are alright. one is better than the other.

my corner won DPOY last year so he's fine lmao with the exception he's out a couple weeks due to an injury. the other guy is alright, too.

my WRers are all solid. they run 95 miles an hour.. brown is getting older.. i've got a 6'7'' TE..

    uhm...

    ?

I've got Madden 08 on PS2 as well. You should have done a draft class because at least you will know someone lol. I hate those draft classes without names. Moving on, I would draft a MLB or OLB. I'm not big on Crowder or Gocong for that matter but you may like them in the game. If you like your team, I would just pick the lowest starting overall and draft that position. Whenever I do a draft without names, I tend to go offensive line or interior defensive line. I just do it because I hate seeing the no names and I don't like fake players lol.

i would do a draft class if i had the $ to buy a game to import the draft class.

dood and there's someone else who still has a PS2?! awesome!

    edit:

even if i did the draft class i wouldn't know anyone because i don't watch college football. :p

True. You could rent it for like $8 at Blockbuster but that doesn't matter. I know, I think we may be the only ones with a PS2 lol. I would just go with what I said earlier, draft the lowest overall position in your lineup.

Even though you don't watch CFB, we could help you.

Thanks. You mean with the starters and not the backups, right?

Correct. Lowest overall of the starters. i.e. Say your Safety is a 78 overall and its the lowest STARTING overall on your team. Select that position.

alright so here's what happened just to follow up this thread.

I drafted a LG which was the lowest position. I also drafted a QB (needed a decent backup behind Henne and a "top 5" QB fell to the second round). My only complaint with him besides the fact that he's a rook and is making some off kilter throws is that he's a left handed QB it's a totally different way of playing the game.

I also drafted a RE (I believe) as I didn't like the backup that was there. That was my #1,2,2 picks. I cut the rest because they were all positions I am solid in (my backup ends on one side were fine and the NT too, my lbers and DBs are killer with at least high 80s and the majority of them 95ish overall).

So I get to the offseason (towards camp) and realize that my front line has crappy backups. I trade my backup LT and a #2 pick and get like a 90 overall 21 yo LT backup (behind Long). I do similar things with the RG. I think I have maybe a #2 pick and then it's like 4,4, etc. I traded my #1 for a guy and some picks, too...

I traded a 2nd round pick for Fred Davis, who has 99 catching.

    best.
    trade.

I noticed that too, so I just quit scouting.

Eff it, I draft with my heart, not my brain.

I just do the combine prior to the draft and I get the info. I'm not sure if they have scouting on PS2 lol.

Those are very high overalls. How many seasons are you in?

Yeah I think they're different. I do the combine, too. Except for linemen because I can't do trench work for ****. I'll do the HB, LB, DT/E, FS, SS (sometimes.. keeping up w/the WRers is hell for me).

Ooo. The trenches are fun. The easiest position is WR. All you do is run horizontally on the LOS and then when you are coming near the out of bounds line, cut upfield and you'll be open every time. I used to like RB work but it got boring and easy. DB's are fun though.

How many seasons are you into franchise?

Damn that's a lot of years. The most I have gone is two and that was with the Packers in NFL 2k.

Yeah I think I need to start playing on all madden i'm blowing people out like 50-7 and such.

I love the franchise. I love player personnel decisions and contract negotiations and all that.

Lol what level do you plan on now? I normally play on All-Pro.

Madden's franchise bores me. I like 2k's franchise though.

I don't have 2k. It's probably close to free by now so I might give it a shot. I play on all pro. What can you do in 2k that you can't in madden?

Yeah its old now but was awesome at the time. Well considering how long its been since I played ESPN NFL 2k5, there probably isn't much. I know that you can jump over the pile with the RB. I know we still can't do that on PS2 but you can on next-gen I think. By the way, this is the one I played.

    Another question:

are there any positions that you don't draft and you pick up as free agents?
any positions that you take priority in drafting?

how's the head coach game because I think I like making coaching decisions more than I like playing the football
