By the time the draft rolls around Tannehill could very well be considered a solid top 15 pick with a team potentially reaching for him in the top 10 IMO. Personally, I'd take Tannehill over Locker & Gabbert. With good coaching in the right system with the right personnel around him, Tannehill has the natural talent and intangibles to become an elite NFL QB IMO.
I could see that happening. QB's are at a premium, and the new rookie wage scale makes the affordable. IMO, Tannehill is going to take time to develop. I seriously doubt it will happen. as the snowball in hell told me, but howsabout Henne with Tannehill or Weeden, or RGIII?
I'd try to re-sign Henne if we happen to take Tannehill or RG3. The competition would do them good; Henne has the respect of the team from last report, and he already knows the offense. IMO that would make more sense than letting him go and bringing in a washed up vet to bridge the gap.
Landry is more interesting to me, give him the protection he needs and with his precision throwing arm, he could be our "franchise" QB. Seems like (to me) in the area's he seems to have problems, he could be taught and schemed out of. The throwing arm & touch are far harder to teach.
I was just pondering about what my ideal draft scenario would be. I'm sure it'll change 50 times by April, but right now it's: swapping for Cleveland's 2 firsts and grabbing Tannehill, David DeCastro, Dwayne Allen, and Greg Childs, who I'm hoping will be around in the 3rd. IMO these 4 would be a great compliment to each other (along with our current group).
Wouldn't it be ironic if Laundry Jones ended up in Dallas? Get it?...any whoo i doubt you can use Henne's knowledge of the current offense as an advantage considering the staff and system will change.
I really have no idea how the QB's in this years draft will do once they get to the NFL. While I am like most everyone else on here and I would love to see them get Luck in the draft. I think the possibility of the Dolphins getting Luck is now very slim. So it does appear that it is going to come down to Jones or Barkley. I have been a supporter of drafting Jones, if the Dolphins couldn't get Luck. He can make all the throws and is an accurate passer. He also has shown to be a better passer on deep passes than Barkley. Jones is taller than Barkley and and the only area I see Barkley having a clear advantage over Jones is, Barkley appears to be a better runner when he is forced out of the pocket. It appears that some people love Jones and are not that high on Barkley, while others appear to favor Barkley over Jones. I also agree with a poster who stated that Jones is not as effective as Barkley once the pockets starts to collapse. Personally I think either Jones or Barkley would be a definite long term upgrade for the QB position. While my preference would be for the Dolphins to draft Jones if he is available. I wouldn't be upset if they decided to go with Barkley. The only thing which would upset me is, if Luck, Jones, or Barkley are available and the Dolphins don't select one of these QB's.
If Childs can get back to 100%, then I'd love to have him for a mid round steal. If not, then I'm with you on Adams.
Channing Crowder begs to differ with that opinion! He said that the entire team cringed at the thought of Henne playing Qb. Henne needs to move on to a fresh start somewhere else. He'll make a good backup.
