****, I have to go to bed. I have to get up and be out of this hotel by 7. Later guys. I think I might get my doctorate in my dreams, so I should be back tomorrow.
Why are we even talking about someone who: A) Isnt here to even read this thread? B) Isnt involved in the draft? C) Has many valid points in his arguments even I dont agree with each of them? Since when is it acceptable to rag on other members whose opinions we dont agree with? The comments are always supposed to be about the post and not the poster. Dont answer any of the above questions. Just please stay on topic. Thank you.
To fix some of the confusion, can I just calrify a bit without taking shots Boik? Stitches' comments were said tongue in cheek in response to an argument about Weatherspoon in the Club. Stitches knows it was a fine pick.
Point taken. I read through the posts bro and I understand that point but it lead to a whole bunch of off topic discussion about a poster who isn't even involved here. Why concern with another poster who really has no business being dragged in to this? Since when do we do that on this site and what would make us different then other sites if we did? Back to the draft.....
It was a very strong pick by Pete. If youre only going to have 1 pick in the first two rounds you need to make it count and he did. Got a top 20 player who fits his system in round two because we're all running 3-4's.
I agree, good value at this point. I don't know if he'll be much help the 1st year (and possibly the 2nd) but I think he has the skills to be real good.
Thanks bro. I know people question his transition, but I believe he has a chance to be very good on the NFL. Actually very surprised he slipt this far, but glad he did EDIT: Thanks Pete.
Nice pick by the Cards at the end of round 2. McCoy reportedly had a great pro day, hit on every pass, 60 for 60.
Where'd you read he had a great pro day? From everything I know, they showed off his strengths, had few 7 step drops and not enough deep balls thrown. It was said to be average by NFL Scouts.
The guys on Sirius NFL radio last night, I think one was Ross Tucker and the other I'm not sure (Dean Dalton?). They said he threw every pass. Now certainly his footwork needs improvement as does 99% of all college quarterbacks coming out due to the spread being so prevalent these days. I actually think looking back to Henne last year, when we were in obvious shotgun situations and kept him under center, that we were working on his drops purposely. But that is perhaps another topic for another day.
Tony Pauline said otherwise. Basically what I wrote in the last post. McCoy needs to be in a WCO or a short passing game IMO.
As always,I think time will tell. I have heard several reports both ways, Kiper is going on and on about how impressive he was. I think a few things that don't show in the Pro-days are the things I outlined. Talent and strong arn goes no-where if you don't have the smarts, leadership, decision ability and toughness. There is zero doubt that McCoy has an over-abundance of all those. Whether or not he can translate all that into an NFL routine will depend as much on his supporting cast as much as the system iMHO. I think Arizona would actually be a pretty nice landing spot for him. He wouldn't be expected to do too much early on except make good decisions and be accurate. Those are both strong points for him.
thanks. and one of the best returners in the draft, if not the best. having lived in bama the past 3 years, ive seen too much of arenas to pass. now i just hope the top guy on my bullpen list doesnt get snagged, then it'll be a good 3rd round for me.
Yeah, he's a good returner. He will sometimes make a dumb mistake though. Then again, he's related to Gilbert Arenas. Hope you get your guy.
And here I thought Arenas would make it to round 4. There goes my Punt Returner These rounds is where it gets tricky IMO.
Two Gators picked picked back to back by the Pats. Good thing this is just the gm draft cause I met cry if this really happened.
Damnit MAT!!!! THAT'S why I wanted two consecutive picks!!!! Oh well, at least I got Edds. BTW: Spikes was somebody I eluded to in here earlier. A few had projected him at our 12. No way he goes or belongs there, but he is very much an NE type of linebacker. Solid but not outstanding. He would really excell in their system. Of course, I now have the former NE DC, hence my attraction to Spikes.
