Teams looking for a young quarterback who is less expensive than Drew Brees might want to dial up James "Shack" Harris. At 57, the Jaguars' vice president of player personnel and former NFL quarterback isn't making a comeback, but he has a passer who could fill the bill. Jaguars backup David Garrard is able and available. The asking price for Garrard: a first-round draft pick. Garrard is entering the final year of his contract, so this is the Jags' last chance to get something in return for Garrard before he becomes a free agent. The 49ers are believed to be leaning toward ranking Utah QB Alex Smith ahead of California QB Aaron Rodgers. That doesn't mean the 49ers will make Smith the first pick in the draft, however. They also are considering Michigan WR Braylon Edwards. The draft process is such a "this yr" proposiiton that it has no real perspective, as fans we eat it up, reality is if you look back just a bit, you can see several "what were they thinking" moments.
