"Some general managers" are projecting Houston WR Donnie Avery as a top-40 pick, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Avery may only know how to run go routes, but he can run them fast. He was seen as a third-rounder before lighting up his Pro Day with 40 times in the 4.2s. Avery is raw as a route runner, so he will be something of a luxury pick.

Not a bad pick if you have solid WR corp to build him up and work him into, but thats not the case for us. If we do pick him, I would not be mad, Avery and Ginns speed would be a terror on the outsides. Come to think of it, might be a smart move, we have Wilford and Hagan to go over the middle.....

He will be forever remembered in that Boise St. vs Houston game. He was the one who converted on the 4 and like 20.

Avery and Dexter Jackson are just so intriguing. One of them is going to be lights out and maybe both

I still think he will be a 3rd rounder...he is not that big,,,fast yes, but there are a lot of fast guys out there.

I can tell you that this kid not IS fast, but he PLAYS fast, his speed 100% translates to the field. I dont think he would be right for us as we have that kind of player twice over with Ginn and Booker, but for some team needing a speed injection, he would be a solid 3-4-5 rounder. Also, his teammate, RB Alridge has some wheels. Again, we have that kind of player on our team, but someone I think will get a player with those guys.

I have LoBo as a third down back and we still need a slot receiver unless that's Camarillo or Hagan. He would be great as a slot receiver. Him, Hawkins, Royal. Good call on Aldridge. That guy is going to be a slot receiver too and he might be gotten with a 7th rounder. I also love Dexter Jackson for the speed. Steve Johnson would be a nice 6th or 7th round pickup too

We might indeed need a slot guy, but with the holes on the OL/DL/LB/DBs im not sure taking a slot reciever with our 3rd rounder is a great idea. Who knows if BP agrees with me though heh

Actually, I really think we may grab Manningham with our 2nd 2nd rounder if he's still there, maybe even the first. He could be the bonafide playmaker Parcells is looking for if he can get past his character questions. If we skip on a playmaker then I think we plug in a slot receiver at some point. And I'm holding out hope we get Steve Johnson in the 6th. The guys just makes plays and he has the size Parcells covets

I really hope we dont a take a reciever in the second, even if its a guy like Manningham. I dont think WR is the weakest part in our game right now, we NEED a guy like Cason, Grove or Lofton at 2a assuming Jake #1 (we need a LT at 2a assuming Chris/Vernon). I think WR is a need, but not a pressing one, we can have a fleet of guys out there, but if Beck doesnt have any time to throw and our Defense still allows 50 points and 800 running yards a game it just wont matter.
