Shues said 'find someone to plug into that QB spot'. He didn't say MMoore wasn't the guy. He didn't also, say that he was the guy....

Ross, Ireland, Marshall, Marino and Shula have all publicly acknowledged Moore is NOT the answer. As for Moore, he seems to be handling himself with class by not responding publicly.

At what point does he ask to be traded or released? The writing is on the wall...barring injury it doesn't look like there is a chance in hell Moore will be the staring QB in week 1.

Not sure how anyone can infer Shula is not saying the M. Moore is NOT the guy.

I agree. There's nothing wrong with being a super back up. Everyone deserves a shot at a starting lineup. That's what the offseason is for. But he's just not good enough to be a full time starter in this league. He's good enough to come in for an injury, and give the team a chance. That's his job, and I hope the coaching staff realizes that instead of just handing the job to Moore, or letting him compete with other backup caliber QB's.

Why would he do that? He signed here to be a backup. And is making backup QB money. Matt Moore knows his role.

I think Philbin knows a good QB when he sees one (if he doesn't, then he must be blind), and I'm sure - watching tape - he sees Moore's strengths and weaknesses. And he must know that Moore has limitations, and sees no reason to not want an upgrade. Same for Ireland and Ross (although, do they know what a good QB is?). I like Moore, he's gritty - I was at the game in Buffalo, and he had a pretty damn good day, and it was nice to see. And it'd be great to have that in reserve should we need to call on it here and there. But I also watched the other games in which he struggled with inaccuracies, didn't sense the rush all that well, threw into coverage when others were open elsewhere .... or when he just didn't have the God-given ability to get the ball where it needed to be. Not to mention the fumbles (which you would think he could clean up, but still). Quite simply, it seems anyway that he's just not the guy you want to hang your hopes on for 16 games, but he's the perfect guy to fill in when you need someone to come in and save the day after an injury. For all Yates did in Houston, I bet Houston fans would've loved to have a guy like Moore holding down the fort instead when they entered the playoffs, eh?

Look, if we get Manning, who knows if he holds up. He may need a small break mid-year due to some soreness or something that keeps him out, and if Moore is the guy for those games, I'd be confident in our chances to win. But we cannot - on purpose anyway - go into next season w/ Moore as "the guy." That would be a failure on the part of our FO and owner. I think the only way Moore starts is, we whiff on Peyton, and Philbin doesn't believe in Flynn enough to have him signed. Then, we would surely draft a guy who probably isn't ready to start day 1 (even RGIII, but who knows). Then, Moore may have to man the position for a bit. But otherwise, let's keep him as the super back-up. Think Frank Reich in a smaller body.

Not this year. Beyond the few here, most aren't clamoring that Moore is a franchise QB to be. Moore's best opportunity to prove anybody wrong is to play really well next year if the Dolphins don't bring in Flynn or if they do and an injury opportunity arises. Beyond that he's probably not taking it personal b/c that is the nature of the business. If he were as sensitive as many here he'd probably be in a different business by now.

Actually, that IS quite profound. When Shula says the way you win the Super Bowl is to win more games than anyone else, win in the playoffs, then win the Super Bowl, he is saying that there is no "key;" there is no magic formula; there are no shortcuts. You have to get there the hard way, one game at a time, consistently. That's pure Shula.

    Don't mess with The Don.
