Just a couple of little trivia facts to take your mind off our current woes; if only for a few minutes.

**In 1967, the Dolphins 2nd season RCB Dick Westmoreland picked off 10 passes. It's still a club record for interceptions in a season.

**Despite the fact that he never caught more than 43 passes in one season, Paul Warfield, nonetheless was named to the Pro Bowl each of his 5 seasons with the Dolphins. (1970-1974)

    Interesting.

Here's a well known fact. In 2002, Ricky Williams was only 147 yards away from 2000 total rushing yards.

Long ago, this Miami Dolphin defensive end set an NFL record by returning 8 turnovers for touchdowns. He also ammassed 117 sacks, 41 forced fumbles, was selected to 6 Pro bowls, and earned the title of Defensive Player of the year. This player is currently deceased.

    It's Jason Taylor, dummy!

Little known fact. During Wannstedt's tenure, 3654 people died of boredom while watching the Miami Dolphins offense play

Embarrassing fact: The Miami Dolphins fight song is the worst in the NFL. The song is absolutely horrendous. And to top it off, they stole it from Houston!!! What would compel someone to steal such a horrible song?

A contest was held in 1965 to name the new Miami football team, other than Dolphins the finalist names were: Marauders, Mustangs, Mariners, Missiles, Moons, Sharks, and Suns.

The Longest game in NFL history was between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins, the 1971 AFC divisional playoff game which the Dolphins won 27-24.
Halfway through the sixth quarter, Garo Yepremian kicked a 37-yard field goal to win it.
Eleven future Hall of Famer players were suited up to play that day.

Westmoreland was a beast for the one or two seasons he was here, but Warfield was the most natural athlete at WR I've ever seen...he was as natural a WR as Sayers was a RB...but he was basically overshadowed by the style of offense we played at that time...

Wasn't the longest playoff game Miami as well?
I think the one they lost to the Chargers, famous clip of Winslow being helped off the field?

The Miami, Kansas City game was the longest Playoff game. They played two overtimes or 6 quarters.
The Miami, San Diego game was a single overtime but it was played in the Orangebowl and is considered one of the most exciting games of all time.

"The San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins faced off in what turned out to be one of the most exciting, emotional and exhausting games in pro football history in the AFC divisional playoffs. The game was played in Miami's Orange Bowl on January 2, 1982, and was finally decided by a 29-yard field goal by San Diego's Rolf Benirschke after 13:52 minutes of overtime."

Der you're right, I was thinking the KC was regular season for some reason but a regular season game wouldn't go that long. Brain fart on me.
