Why does every thread about QBs need to turn into a discussion about forum members?

If there was no interest, then he would have signed with Miami for much less money, no?

He absolutely should be in competition with Moore. They need to actively try to replace Moore with someone cheaper.

I don't get what the debate here is over. Just think back to last pre-season with the debacle on the field after Tannehill and Moore we off the field. At best, it gives the depth guys a chance to actually make plans in preseason, at "worst" he shows he's capable, and got his head on straight again, and we either have a cheaper backup than Moore, which leaves us with some likely trade bait somewhere.

If we're talking about a 3rd QB then I don't see if there should ever really be a "debate" here.

But I do think you take a young guy from the class, take a stab at the best one you think you can get your hands on for cheap, coach him up and then who knows. Even if he's not the next Kurt Warner he could be a guy who takes the primary backup role away from a more expensive option and then all the sudden you're saving $4 million a year which is no chump change.

I didn't state there was NO interest in Moore. I stated there was only little interest in him. The fact is he signed for less money than he received the last three seasons. He is still a solid backup, but it would appear that no team wanted to sign him to come in and compete for a starting job.

Moore and his family appear happy in South Florida and if he is going to be a backup in the NFL, I assume he is happy to stay in Miami. I just think that if another team was really interested in him as a possible starter or their backup QB, they would have signed him while he was a free agent and not waited until he resigned with the Dolphins and now would have to give up a draft pick if they traded for him.

I think it's all irrelevant anyway. I think when all is said and done, the Dolphins will end up going into the season with 2 QB's on the 53 man roster and they will be the same two QB's as last year, Tannehill and Moore.

I don't see Freeman on the Dolphins roster unless Tannehill or Moore are injured in the preseason. There is a reason no one signed Freeman after he was cut by the Giants in preseason last year. He just isn't very good.

I don't agree that Freeman isn't very good. I agree that he wasn't good the last time he played, but he was very good the years before that. The rumor was that he became a drug addict and it destroyed his career. Is he past that? Can he return to the player he was before (or something close to that)? I don't know and I assume the odds are against it, but I see it as a low cost risk for the team with a nice potential upside.

You could certainly do worse at QB #3 than Freeman. I don't think the Dolphins had 3 active QBs during any game last year. He also brings a nice skill set to the scout team.

I didn't know about the drug thing but I do know Schiano turned a promising young team into a bunch of stiffs.

Matt Moore is the best QB on the team, not Freeman.
