Henne just isn't what a lot of us thought he would be. Unfortunately, it's back to square one in a QB search that's been going on for a better part of a decade.
Well, have not given up on the Buckethead just yet, but do believe there is no way we can head into 2011 with Henne as "the guy" for us, he has lost that is now "some dude".
i can agree with this. He should still have the inside edge over anybody brought in because he knows this team and its players but he has to earn everything from this point forward. I think he can earn it, a lot of people don't. As long as we're better for it, i doubt any of us would disagree.
Right now Henne is the projected starter because the Dolphins have no other option based on the QB's now on their roster. I expect that to change drastically over the coming months with the draft and eventual free agency. If Henne is still with the team when training camp starts. I am sure Sparano and Daboll will come out and and say the politically correct things regarding Henne. Such as that they still have faith in him and he will be given every opportunity to be the starter. While these may be what they are stating in public. I have no doubt that both Sparano and Daboll, along with Ireland are already thinking about every scenario possible which will bring another starting QB to the Dolphins. It is quite apparent that the coaching staff, the owner, and many of the players have lost confidence in Henne being the answer at QB.
I think the only thing going in Henne's favor is he is a good soldier and takes orders well. Unfortunately, I would rather have a leader at QB than follower. However, it appears to me that Henne was over-coached and micro-managed. It was clear when Thigpen and Marshall changed routes at the end of the year they got **** from David Lee when they got to the sideline. Perhaps if DaBoll tells Henne to adjust to what the defense is giving and take chances Henne will be able to adjust and open it up. Big if...and hate to bank next season on it...if there is a season.
How many other names didn't he mention? This is like saying Ross no longer eats cornflakes and he may have given them up because Henne & his mom like them. Seriously would that be any worse reporting than this? Reality is nobody (except maybe Ireland) looks to be on firm ground.
