So Jason Allen IS being considered. Interesting.

I just hope everyone competing for the FS position is given a legitimate chance and that they take their time deciding...

Definitely. I remembered the last time a player walked right into the FS starting spot. It wasn't pretty.

It is pretty sad when you miss the likes of Renaldo Hill isn't it?

Thanks for the post. I'm not too worried about FS, we dont need Ed Reed, as long as its not a total scrub back there, Im good. Watching the games, I always wondered why every time there was a deep ball thrown outside, neither Wilson nor Bell were EVER there to help Vontae nor Sean. My theory is that the safeties were often stuck in the middle of the field helping our LBs, who were even worse in coverage than Gibril. For the most part we were stuck in Quarters coverage. Cover 2 was outta the question, unless you want Crowder playing the deep middle. Cover 3 forces Taylor and/or Porter into the flat, where neither was comfortable. Man coverage matched ILBs vs RBs, and Taylor/Porter vs a TE, again, mismatches everywhere. In retrospect, its not a suprise that Wilson and Bell were MIA on the deep balls outside.

With Dansby, who's the top coverage ILB in the league IMO, erasing the middle of the field, that'll free whoever the free safety is to stay deeper and be quicker to give help outside. And that'll free the CBs up to be more agressive on shorter routes, especially Sean "Zero Picks unless you count the preseason" Smith. Edds is supposedly an excellent cover guy, and Misi cant be any worse than Porter or Taylor. Our pass defense should be much improved, but we're undersized on the front 7 so run D is my new worry point. :pity:
