pretty strange that he was on IR though, he played his last game on 12/1 so something must have happened in that game, so then he can't play and they put him on IR but like 17 days later he is ready to play ??? really strange

Chris Owens was a pet favorite of mine coming out of San Jose State. One of those things where you come to the game to watch Coye Francies and Jarron Gilbert (both of whom rated much higher at the time), but then you have a tough time taking your eyes off Chris Owens.
They waive a player off IR once he is healthy during the season. He apparently had a short term injury, and is healthy now. He reached a settlement with the Browns and they waived him.
Right now the main thing is he's definitely better than Justin Rogers, just in case we need him on defense.
this is a nice little signing. He had some good games for the Falcons the last couple of years and is a really good special teams player. I think he's less of a boundary corner and more of a nickel corner though. Funny, we targetted against him 10 times in week 1 when we played the Browns. It's his 2nd highest opp target count in his career. The highest came in 2010 vs the Bengals... TWENTY! When I've seen him, he seems to always tackle well and play fast.
