He doesn't need to fail worse , imo if Miami is at the same level , has a poor or indifferent home record , and there isn't major contributions from Ireland's draft , he is gone.
Agreed, it doesn't really mean much. Rose is a meathead. He's done a great job parlaying an obscure stat (caught Marino's first NFL TD) into a nice little local career, though. Anyway, via @JeffDarlington: So there you guys go, we're probably going to see if Allen has anything left in the tank. (My guess: more than Jason Taylor, less than Yeremiah Bell.)
I dont understand why this guy, over an experienced guy that knows the defense in Will Allen.. Unreal..
What i don't understand, is how a guy that is 33 years old, didn't play a single snap last year, played only 6 games 2 years ago, was limited this preseason, gets so much love here. I mean, what makes y'all believe so much in your hearts that he can still play...I dont see it. Let this guy go. He was good 3 years ago...not like a 33 year old that is just one year removed from being a good player, guy wasn't even good in 09 before he got hurt....
You already know that you are speculating. Since Allen was not on the field yesterday, no one knows how he would have done. They can throw out bold proclamations, but they mean nothing.
He may not ever play well again , but he has . That is more than some db's on the roster to be sure. He is also very football smart , prepared and a really positive veteran presence , is like a coach on the field , and DID make some plays this pre season , which promises nothing , but what are the options? What has NC showed you this year? I have seen absolutely nothing to indicate he can play at an average level , I wish I had and would love for him to be a player . Right now he certainly isn't.
It was their 2nd unit, and who ever it was he still made some nice plays. When he came flying up the field to tackle Ogletree for a 3 yd loss on a reverse, he looked healthy. When he made a solid open field tackle for little gain on Gronkowski, he looked healthy. When he tipped that pass to Culver for an int, he looked healthy. On which plays exactly did he look like a guy who didn't look healthy enough to be on the field? As for no other team wanting him, I wouldn't want to make a wager that he won't play for some team this season. Just because he wasn't immediately signed on the first day of week 2, let's not all overreact.
I'll have to step in and disagree with this as well. Allen looked pretty good in the last game. Against scrubs or not, he looked better than good....
If the front seven can't put some significant pressure on the QB, the secondary is going to struggle all year. Brady had enough time to sit down and write a letter in the pocket last night. Brady had more than enough time to go through all of his progressions and spot open receivers.
You are totally correct. I really gotta wonder when I see folks dissing Allen for his performance against Dallas, if they even watched the game, and if so were not in a mind altered state. How anyone seeing him in that game could decide he is done, is totally beyond me.
This game the entire secondary looked completely unprepared, not just Carroll. Did anyone else notice how many times Brady caught them playing a loose zone? Every time he burned them in that type of coverage for big yards, and every time they went right back to it. A few times I swore I even think I saw a type of prevent defense. What the hell were these guys doing? I was fit to be tied watching this implosion. Good riddens to Sapp, and hopefully Yeremiah Bell is next. http://www.miamidolphins.com/team/roster/Yeremiah-Bell/13feb698-45b5-44fc-8b1e-49359de9be95 33 years old is waaaay too old to be playing a DB position effectively in the NFL. Also their part time secondary coach Todd Bowles needs walking papers too. Our DB is a full time job and the resposibily should be split by someone who is also being an assistant coach. http://www.miamidolphins.com/team/roster/Yeremiah-Bell/13feb698-45b5-44fc-8b1e-49359de9be95 http://www.miamidolphins.com/team/coaches/todd-bowles/ddd5c619-dc39-49c9-b220-c000bfcaa193 It's time to get a full time secondary coach who knows how to call defensive adjustments and who has young, fresh talent too work with. The offense looks great - can someone please revamp the way the secondary is being coached?
Didn't read the whole thread, do we know if this was an addition to the 53 or a practice squad addition? BTW, we're not done adding players this week.
I do not agree that we should fire Bowles. Your reasoning is it is too much work for him to be the Asst Head Coach and DBs coach as well? The Asst Head Coach title is just something to make it harder for other teams to steal him from us. They'd need to make him their head coach or we'd need to give permission for any other job interviews. Bowles also has an asst DBs coach helping him in Joe Danna. He is not being stretched too thin by his workload.
nolan carroll has never looked good in a game besides preseason, i really don“t get the hype about this guy
This guy? http://www.miamidolphins.com/team/coaches/joe-danna/825e9d79-125e-46e1-94de-55fdf0616b4a ". . . having been named to his current post as assistant defensive backs coach on February 21, 2010." I don't have any faith in this guy. It's time to take a look at making a change. I think Bowles is busy assisting TS and Danna is really running things. I respect your opinion but do not agree with it.
I hope not until we see whether DT can run between the tackles and pound it up the middle when needed.
