Great idea... thanks Michael Irvin, and Roger Goodell. The mentoring of youth by elders, of young men gaining repspect for what's come before them and to emulate those role models is a vanishing thing in society. It's so important to the maturation process and I am glad to see the NFL doing anything, however small, to help foster a sense of that in the young players privileged enough to be entering the league. That's a really great idea. I really hope that next year the Dolphins organise for their HOFers to make the trip along with the rookies. Can you imagine anything that could do more to instill pride in the jersery than for the rookies to have Dan Marino, Don Shula, Larry Csonka, Jim Langer, Larry Little, and Dwight Stevenson show them around the HoF (Paul Warfield considers himself to be a Cleveland Brown who played a few years in Miami). Maybe some of the other Dolphins who bled aqua and orange like Bob Kuechenberg or John Offerdahl too.
Yeah, i love the idea of this program too. Get them in there and see the greatness that can be in front of them. Maybe it will give them a sense of pride and responsibility to be an NFL player and to make the right choices down the road to ensure theyre in the league a long time so they can one day maybe have the chance to become a member of the HOF
I have been there twice and the feeling of seeing how it all began & the great players who made this game was great. I agree this is a way to show what could be your future if you do the right things.
I think this is a great thing which could provide inspiration to all rookies. Especially the ones who were troubled as youngsters or who went through rough times at a young age. They need to send " Crime Time" group ( Henry, Thurman, Whacman) over there.
