Dolphins quarterback John Beck keeps his head up

McCown has NO value to this team, he won't be here next year no matter what, if we need him to start this season is over already and we need to be preparing for next year already. If Beck can't be the #3 on a rebuilding team I wish him the best in his upcoming door to door sales career. I think he's going to be at least a Brad Johnson kinda QB, he's still better than Lemon. If we let him go I bet he ends up with the Patsies, Baltimore is in bad shape QB wise right now too, we may be able to get a 4th rounder from them.

Hell get rid of them both as far as I'm concerned, save money on some bare bones third stringer. Or better yet find the Jim Jensen type that can do more than one thing. Oh wait, we already have that in Foster.

It's all going to depend on what is offered for Beck at this point. If they can get a decent pick, see ya later, if not he stays. Everyone has a price as far as this team is concerned, nothing personal, just business.

My problem is when omar reports the fumble he forgets to mention it wasn't becks fault.
It was a very low snap. I agree the team seems to have decided they will wait for a little probably unti the season opener to decide on how many and what qb's are going to stay. I think they are waiting to see if any team has some injurries during preseason hoping for better market for a qb.

Other than Kelly not knowing who fumbled the ball on the snap, things just don't look very good for either McCown or Beck...ashamed that Tunaland didn't give either an honest chance to show their wares, but adding Pennington and hand-picking Henne (then handing him the job) pretty much has sealed their fates here... Just an example of them not being fiscally responsible imo...

I said it before and I'll say it again "My boy Johnny is going to be a good QB"; if not in Miami it will happen somewhere else. I'm guessing that Bill cuts him on the 30th if no takers. Why? Because of the ball handling and Sat night, although not John's fault, will be looked at as if John is snake bitten. That's ok because I know Johnny will land on his feet and will be given a chance to shine and he will!!

One school of thought is if you cheap out on your most important position you will get low quality performance from your offense. The Dolphins have been trying all kinds of things to fix that position over the years. I can't begrudge the current regime for trying their hand at fixing it too. Hopefully if they have done a decent job it will pay for itself.

I think Pennington and Henne both have more than earned their spots on the Dolphins QB depth chart.

What you call "not being fiscally responsible" I see as conducting the due diligence the most important position on any team deserves.

I said long before this QB competition that the new regime would not care what draft pick the old regime spent on John Beck. If he can't play, he'll be shown the door. I'm not saying John Beck can't play, but he obviously hasn't shown enough to prove it to BP, JI, and TS.

Just release or trade Beck already. Why bother bringing him out to kneel the ball 4 times? It's almost as if they are intentionally trying to embarrass him.

For those who think the Dolphins will get anything but a low draft pick for Beck are delusional. His value is almost at nil at this point and it's not going to go any higher no matter who gets injured in preseason. The only thing that keeps his value at near minimum is that there are likely 10 teams that would be interested if he were to be released, even if it's just to put him on the practice squad.

Keeping him makes no sense either because the Dolphins will go with Henne and sign another veteran if Pennington cannot make it through the year. McCown fits the veteran bill already.

Its one thing to be a veteran and its another to be able to lead the team if necessary. So far McCown hasn't shown that to the Three Amigos. He may stick around for the year or it might be Beck. At least it seems we have found a starter and we have found our QB of the future.

I disagree, beck will be fine and if we have to play McCown the season is already lost. McCown would bring back more right now than Beck because a team needs a vet backup.

I try and trade McCown and let Beck and Henne battle it out next year.

I didn't quite understand this either. I hope and want to think that is not the case. Hopefully he can play some in the Saints game. I thought he did fine in the 2 drives/series he led in the 1st pre-season game. Not great, but fine.

All I care now is that we get the highest value for Beck in a trade. It is Beck's problem on how or if he becomes a starter someday, somewhere in the NFL. I like him and hope he does well, and I believe he will do well, but at this point which QB we keep: Beck or McCown, depends strictly on what team(s) have QB injuries and which of our 2 gets us the best draft pick in return. This regime has done EXACTLY what they should do about our QB situation, it was up to Beck & Mccown to perform and neither has done so well enough to make us want to keep them.

I agree with you. I've always thought he is a good guy and tries hard.
I hope their not trying to embarrass him, as another poster suggested. He got a bum deal last year and was rushed etc. I hope where ever he goes, he does well and keeps his head up.
