Nothing irks me more when announcers say things like "Team X always travels well, there's a lot of Team X's fans here today."

Yeah, they traveled about 30 miles from Broward county. WELL TRAVELED.

Maybe if we offered latin dancing at halftime for fans who wanted to get on the field?

And I keep saying COME ON DO IT! I'd be first in line for tix.

That said, the LA market has similar problems. Transplants with a huge loyalty to home teams. Everyone I know here that's an NFL fan bleeds for another team already. My KC friend. My Steelrs fan friends. etc etc.

Plus, replace Cubans with Mexicans who love soccer.

And you have the big city that lost the Rams and the Raiders.

I'll say this... Ross loves glamor.

    Los Angeles = Celebrities.

He could brand it as the Hollywood NFL team.

You want a solution besides waiting for a championship team to be built.

All folks have to do is see what's going on in Seattle...They put specifics into the blueprint to make things intimate, they didnt want the big empty soul less bowl that was poppin up around the league, some things happened during the construction where they had to change things a bit and wound up with the seats being closer to the field than they originally expected..

Well, look at that business, their 12 th man is a business, a cash cow money making power house of an investment, and it's all because of the building...People go to the games to be a part of the experience and what that type of energy can feel like..and let me say from experience ( orange bowl) when as a fan you can collectively come together in a game and impact the game with your energy, it's addictive..

You do that in Miami as well.

The problem with Miami moving to LA is that there are teams that are a lot better candidates. The NFL wants a team in So Fla as well, because its a great SB destination.

i was in that stadium in seattle 2 years ago, besides that quarter final game at the world cup in germany between germany and argentina in my home town, that was the best thing i ever was part of from a sports point of view...unbelievable

For what it's owrth, I totally agree with you.

Anyone who has ever enjoyed live music can tell you that the venue DOES make a difference in terms of the atmosphere, the enjoyment, the energy and even how the band reacts to it. Performers say all the time that they hate cold, sterile feeling stadiums where it's hard to see their fans because they are too far away.. they lose the human connection that gets them hyped, and also cannot impart the same excitement to the fans.

The rolling Stones, whenever they used to be in toronto, would do these TOTALy surprise shows at the El Mocambo, because they played the small bar once when they were just coming up and LOVED the vibe. Every time they still play there nowadays, it's ****ing unforgettable for the fans AND them (imagine being in a bar that fits 500 people and having the Stones 15 feet from you, drinking beer between verse and you're singing along).

Now, that said, the Stones can ALSO rock a huge venue... but that's just it... it take more, a BIGGER spectacle to fill an empty void. If the Dolphins were winning Superbowls, it could overcome the sheer voluminousness of the stadium... but when they aren;t and the excitement meter is lower (like 5/10) and the crowd smaller, then the venue hurts them.

I don't think anybody is suggesting that a new stadium with closer seats, etc., wouldn't be nicer or better. It would. But there is nothing "wrong" with the current stadium that justifies hundreds of millions in public funds to renovate or repalce the palce.

Your live music analogy is a good one. Would it be great to see Paul McCartney at a bar or club where you're ten feet away from him? Sure that would be awesome. but it was also awesome when I saw him at SunLife two years ago sitting in virtually the same seats I sit in for the Dolphins games.

There is nothing wrong with that stadium that a winning team wouldn't cure. That's it.

Seattle fans rocked the Kingdome too and it was always thought to be one of the loudest venues. seahawks fans being loud and into the games is not a new stadium phenomenon

Sorry...It was way too satisfying so I had to say something.

Hardkore is correct though. Many many people from various places set up shop in South Florida. We used to vacation there atleast once a year when a family member lived in Ft. Lauderdale and every game we went to had many many visiting team fans at the game. I say we give those 20,000 Patsies fans a nice big **** burger to take home with them after Sunday.

Ross owns both team and stadium.

There is no way he can move the team and make any money on the stadium. And no one is going to buy the stadium from him without the team.

So how exactly would a move work?

Its just the hopeful Dolphin fans from LA. I can't say that I blame them... I'd love to see them move to Iowa but that sure as hell won't happen.

And even though it will never happen since TV revenue also comes into play and even if they did leave there would be another NFL team in Miami in no time. Miami has, far and away, supported their team more often than not.

Happened right in front of me in section 127/28. Directly in front of OJ McDuffie!

And we all sang na na na na hey hey hey ...................goodbye to the Patsie fans, who were all jumping up and down thinking their team was walking away with victory.

    Grand Cayman and Minnesota
I know a couple of Pats fans who have Season Tickets for the Dolphins, they come down to a couple games (inc the Pats game obviously) and sell the rest. Use it as a mini vacay during the early winter. I know they are flying in tomorrow for the game. As for the stadium debate, I am with Schmolioot. I was a season ticket holder for a while, I would only see 1-2 games as I am up in MN and before that I was in Grand Cayman, but the JRS never bothered me nor it's amernities (or lack of), I stopped my tix due to I couldn't afford to go see crap on the field, it seemed like we never won at home and who wants to pay for that. My dad flew up from GC last weekend for the game, and he was able to score pretty good seats at a really good price online. Years past it was far more expensive, and the comments he got from people he saw in Miami (he is a Hawks fan) were of the hope you beat us vein, so fans are apathetic towards the team and aren't going to shell out their dosh to go. Even the Vikes have struggled to sell out games the last couple years and this town is rabid.

Anyway back on track, it is going to be loud and I am pulling for the Underdogs at home to win. Something we haven't down the last couple seasons.

People thought they'd never get another franchise either. There might be a team moved one day but it won't be the Dolphins. The NFL knows better because this is a huge TV market.

Cleveland isn't a SB destination. The NFL needs a team in Miami, because SBs in Miami are popular.

Cleveland moved because the city wouldn't build a stadium and Art Modell was literally broke.

Watch Cleveland '95 on the NFL Network. While it's mostly a slurping of Belichick and his all star coaching staff it goes into detail about Modell's financial situation. He was on the verge of bankruptcy before the move to Baltimore.
