The NFL wants a happy ending game for Rogers. With no playoffs possible, might as well get a better draft pick.
We played like losers today. No fight. I hate it when a team plays like that. Offseason better bring some change.
Definitely not. Going to be stuck with him. However, I would trade off all the assets you can and try to develop a younger QB. Maybe trade/sign for an interesting developmental backup like Hendon Hooker.
I've never understood this mindset. Trade off all of the assets you can and try to develop a younger quarterback...WITH WHAT? Trade off our receiving corps so he can throw the ball to a receiver that either can't catch, or doesn't run the correct route resulting in an interception? How is that going to develop a quarterback when he can't move the ball down the field?
How do you think any team does this? You think top 5 QB picks start with the best receiving duo in the game?
Yeah makes no sense to sell off assets for a future QB. Offseason priority is clearly OL followed by backup QB and defense. Have to build on what we have. I don't have an issue with using a 3rd round or lower pick on QB however. But we have to build on what we have.
This season was a disappointment to say the least.A failure in my opinion. If there will be improvement it has to start with developing an offensive line.I know that's obvious but until that's a priority this is what we are.
I checked out and let you guys enjoy the run to attempt to make the playoffs. This team is so soft. They will never win with Tua and McDaniel. McDaniel is a terrible game day coach. His play calling in the first half was horrible. Grier needs to be fired tomorrow along with McDaniel. I'm glad we didn't win a pointless game.
Right. Players are not going to waste their careers on a team with a QB who can't stay healthy and screws the team, and makes you look bad individually.
Goodbye. I made a thread a few weeks ago about Tyreek making cryptic tweets and everybody thought it was a joke about coaching. The minute things don't go their way guys like Hill jump ship. I really don't care. Chances are Hill starts to rapidly decline next year or two so trade him to the biggest garbage team that'll take him. Call Drew!!!!!
I think basing everything on an interview after a hugely disappointing season as the be all end all is a little knee jerk. that being said he’s all about himself. He’s a spectacular talent but take a look in the mirror. How many TDs did you drop? How many game changers? So it’s nice to lay it all at QB1 which has a lot of merit, but bro you didn’t ball out either.
Whatever we decide to do I hope it happens immediately. If Grier and MM are gone , do it now. Why wait.? If Ross decides to keep both OR one or the other, say so now. It does no good letting it drag on whatever his decision may be. Kraft told Mayo he's gone immediately after their game today, thats the way to do it. Having said that, I got the feeling he keeps both anyway. We all know Grier needs to go but right now, while the wounds of a losing season are still fresh and frustration is peaking, I don't care if McDaniel is shown the door himself.
-Get what you can for Hill. I'm sure we can get a decent draft pick for him. -Time to toss Grier and his belongings in the nearest canal. It's over for him. Ignoring the offensive line, scrambling Tua's eggs, and not addressing the backup quarterback position is a fireable offense. It's time for that weirdo to go. -McDaniel probably gets another year, but he's officially on the hot seat and if $hit goes south early next season, he'll be gone early and the rebuild will begin. -Once again we need to make a call on Tua. This is the fifth year in a row he's been either unavailable or a major letdown when we needed him the most. I really like him when he's on his game. When he withers against top tier teams, I start to doubt him. Its I'm been five years already with him. I'm still till pro-Tua and that's partially because we paid him so much money, but we desperately need a solid backup quarterback. If we draft one early...I won't be upset. Justin Fields, Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, and Derek Carr will all be starting quarterbacks for new teams next year, just not ours. But Drew Lock, Carson Wentz, Marc Mariotta, Jameis Winston, and the world famous Cooper Rush will all be available to us via free agency. I personally Drew Lock, I think Winston would be the runaway obvious choice here though. Winston could be starting on a lot of teams. He performed adequately given the circumstances in Cleveland while enduring Ken Dorsey as his OC. Bring Winston to Miami. While I'm not opposed to drafting a quarterback, I don't think this is the draft it should be done in. I think we get one more run with Tua like it or not. Too much is invested in the current building to have it all torn back down. If we fire McDaniel, prompting Weaver might be a logical choice. Either way, Weaver needs to return and we need to keep building this defense. If we don't bring Tyrel Dodson back I'm going to be mad. -Draft football players! This team lacks toughness. We need to draft football players. Guys that play with some grit.
I agree on the OL being THE priority in the draft but for a backup quarterback, I want a VETERAN!!! And I don’t mean a Tyler Huntley or Skylar Thompson. I want a veteran that’s been in the league and has had success.
Re-reading Ross' statement after waking up and emotions having subsided... "However, continuity in leadership is not to be confused with an acceptance that status quo is good enough. We will take a hard look at where we have fallen short and make the necessary changes to deliver our ultimate goal of building and sustaining a winning team that competes for championships.” That last statement with the highlighted portions gives me a SLIGHT glimmer of hope, especially if Grier is reportedly taking a "senior advisory" role. I'm not holding my breath just...looking at that statement with fresh eyes.
Good morning. My "fresh eyes" see much of the same as in the past few years. The season ended on a very disappointing down note. At least the Cincy fans have hope. They didn't make the play-offs either but, they finished the season on a winning streak, they have hope that with a little off-season tweaking their team can hit the ground running come September. In contrast, our official state of the union report promises nothing but, "more of the same" because it's been working so well. <<Yawn>>. Happy New Year. Enjoy the draft.
There's always hope when you have a franchise QB. One that was available and playing for his team at the end of the season, and not smirking on the sidelines as his team lost a winnable game.
it is horrific. Those behind the line plays don't work. I see them blown up time and time again in all games. Gibbs almost got destroyed by AVG yesterday because of one of those stupid calls.
It's easy to say things that give people hope. Question is can you deliver. Ross has been the owner since 2009. You don't judge him on what he says, you judge him on what he's accomplished. In terms of what Ross closely controls, he's managed to hire an average-ish GM and keep him longer than one should, and repeatedly hire bad HCs, though McD is still an open question. That's not something that gives me hope. However, pure dumb luck will eventually strike everyone. THAT gives me hope lol.
Nothing would make me happier at this point than seeing Denver knock off Buffalo and KC the following week for laying down and letting them cruise into the playoffs.
