New Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano was driving with his wife recently from a brief holiday in Hilton Head, S.C., back to Miami when he saw for the first time one of those new South Florida billboards promoting his team.

''I almost ran off the road,'' he said Saturday.

There is alot of young talent on this team that just need to coaching to take it to the next level. I am sure that, with Jason and Zach gone, Joey Porter is probably looking at this as his time to validate himself with nay sayers. This coaching staff and philosophy plays right into his brash personality and it could be infectious, hopefully in a good way, to the entire defense. Ronnie Brown, dare I say, Ricky Williams, Long, a QB to be determined, Ginn. Anyone of these players could and will probably be the next "superstar". But right now, at this moment, the only star we have is Bill Parcells. Pretty Bright star in my opinion.

This team has playmakers in the making. Ronnie Brown, Ted Ginn, John Beck, Joey Porter, Vonnie Holiday, Will Allen...there are playmakers on this team. Not all of them have shown the consistancy to be considerd a superstar.

I think it would be great to have "many" superstars on the team. Imagine a team with so many good players, you couldn't choose just one or two. Sorry to bring up the perfect team again, but ALL those guys were superstars and great ball players IMO.

Thanks Mary, when I heard Coach tell that story in the presser, he had me cracking up.

Straz.. killer sig bro, you look great.

mulligan... there have been some discussions about parcells apparently finding more talent here than expected. One of the many things that says is the coaching was lacking, not optimizing talent. Soo, lets hope they missed some "gems" and that the ones they kept could be coached up.

RBT... I think maybe everyone needs to prove fresh that they are a star, we have some good potential, some really nice flashes, but then durability becomes an ugly issue.. anyway, I think you are spot on, they just need to show us.

I thought the amazing Ronnie Brown was a superstar? :wink2:

If he can remain healthy and put up more consistent numbers on the ground, Brown could be a Top 5 back and the "superstar" this article is talking about.

Wins produce superstars though, it is a sort of chicken and egg thing.

If we look at our roster, we have maybe 4 guys, Ginn, Brown, Williams, Porter throw Big Jake Long into the mix as well, possibly Samson Satele..

I know Ricky hasn't suited up for the beginning of the season in a long time, but his body is rested and I think he has the potential to gain back his superstar nametag again!

I guess this is one reason we don't have a prime time game. Until someone on the team emerges, we'll be in NFL obscurity :pity:

Because the oakland vs. sd game always produces a couple fights, injuries, stabbings intrigue and drama.

This article should be titled "Florida Media needs a superstar because role players are boring to cover." I think the author is wishing for a Chad Johnson/TO type, that can generate quotes and page hits. That's understandable, but I don't think a superstar is a requisite for NFL success.

Seriously, if we have a core of good-to-great players (which, if it all works out, looks like we do), then why do we need a "superstar" on the team? We watched a team without "superstars" beat a team with "superstars" last year in the Super Bowl - shouldn't that be the template we are trying to follow?
