How bout this in one of the Mike Nolan articles......I'm so torn on this, because this offense with BM, would be borderline, unstoppable.....however defense is so pressing right now...

By the way, the practices for the East-West Shrine game in Orlando began on Monday and Bill Parcells was present checking out the talent for himself. But that's not the interesting part. Fact is, Parcells attended the practices for the Orange Bowl teams here in South Florida, too. He wants to see the talent up close and personal.
The intriguing thing to me is that Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall, a native of Central Florida was also at the practice. OK, math lesson of 2 + 2 hopefully =ing a beast WR for Miami.
As you know, Marshall was not on great terms with the Broncos when the season ended. He was, in fact, inactive the final game of the season for reasons the coaching staff determined. So the talk is Marshall may be available when the league year begins in March.
What if Marshall approached Parcells? What if Parcells approached Marshall? If it was going to happen, this would have been the perfect venue. Furthermore, with their interview of former Denver defensive coordinator Mike Nolan coming up, one would assume the Dolphins will be able to get the inside dope on Marshall if they are so inclined.
Obviously, it's up to them to be inclined. But if they are, opportunities are opening to them for gaining information on Marshall -- including talking directly to the player. Coincidently and unofficially, of course.

It's not urgent that we have an OLB coach for the senior bowl.

some info on nolan

He made it there with the '93 Giants, his first year as an NFL coordinator under Dan Reeves. Under Nolan, the Giants finished first in the league in scoring defense and fifth in total defense. However, the 49ers pounded them 44-3 in the second round, and the Giants failed to make the playoffs the next three years before Nolan moved on to the Redskins and Norv Turner.

In Washington, Nolan turned around a horrible Redskins defense, taking it from 13th in the league in scoring defense to eighth and from 28th to 16th in total D. But of those three Washington defenses Nolan ran, only the '99 Redskins made the playoffs.

The 2000 Jets went 9-7 but missed the playoffs with Nolan running things under Groh. Then came the Baltimore years, when only the 2003 Ravens made it to the playoffs during Nolan's three tries. They backslid badly in 2002, giving up 354 points (89 more than Lewis' final year) and dropping from fourth to 19th in scoring D and second to 22 in total yardage.

But in his final two years in Baltimore, Nolan had things rolling: sixth in scoring D both years, third and sixth in yardage.
