First choice: Cam Newton - Say what you will, if Newton is around that late, I don't see how we pass up on Cam. Second choice: Anthony Castonzo - I was disgusted week after week after seeing an offensive line that was lauded in the preseason as "the best o-line in the nfl" getting dominated. Castonzo seems like a perfect fit at RT. Third choice: Nate Solder - If he's around, he would be an interesting bookend compliment to Long at RT. He's a phenomenal athlete, just don't think he has the intangibles that Castonzo has. Fourth chice: Mark Ingram - I like Ingram a lot, but at this point in the nfl serviceable rbs seem to be a dim a dozen during the middle of the draft. Fifth choice: Phil Taylor - This may be quite a reach, especially considering the solid NT play we got from Solaia at the end of the season, but the man is a freak that could be a vital cog in that 3-4 defense.
In regards to your Cam Newton pick. Mel Kiper said today on ESPN that as of RIGHT NOW.............he has Cam rated as the 14th best player in the draft. He might go way up from there after the combine and some investigations are completed. It was between Cam and the Iowa QB on who would be drafted first. Again, as of now.
Cam has a LONG way to go before he will be a good NFL QB, lots of bad habits. im sure with time and training that can be fixed. But as of right now, pass up cam, bring in a vet and wait a year or 2 to draft anther qb. Henne is nothing but a back up as of right now.
