    Look...I don't like our stadium.

and I have seen plenty of games at the OB.

The loudest I have ever seen a stadium was for the Raiders/Dolphins game for the #1 seed in 2002. (at our dump)

the next two weeks....losses vs. Minn. and NE and we went from Home Field advantage throughout...to OUT of the playoffs.

WINNING makes for loud stadiums and a great atmosphere.

Is that the year the Raiders lost in the super bowl to the Bucs?

I think there can't possibly be a better place to watch a football game than Lambeau Field.

But you know what, the old Orange Bowl with all it's faults was an incredible place on game day. This team lost a lot of magic when we moved into Joe Robbie. The atmosphere has never been the same the stands are too far away. The O-B had you sitting practically on top of the field. As long as you weren't behind a poll you were all right. It's tuff to make the Rob seem loud. At the opener last year against the Colts we got it cranked up pretty good but it just isn't ear splitting like the O-B.

As far as the rest, I get down to a game or two every year (Bears game this year) Plenty of hardcore Dolphin fans in my neck of the woods. It's bunk that Dolphin Fans are somehow not as hardcore as other teams.

You would have put up a much better fight against the bucs thats for sure. Oakland was an embarassement in that game.

I think actually that lambeau treats opposing fans very well except for the Bears, Vikings and Cowboys but other then that we are very civil.

Sheesh, that freakin' Pats game! I still want to kill Wannstedt. Leading at the end of the game, kill the clock we win. What does that moron do? 3 straight incomplete passes! Punter shanks one and the pats move 15 yardes for an easy field goal!

    God I HATE Wannstedt!:pity::angry:

Ummmmm, noooooooooo it was a Monday night game in Dec 1981 and Lyle Blackwood picked off the Jawarski pass that led to the win. Trust me on this because I worked at AmeriFirst Federal in downtown Miami from the time I graduated from the U in 1980 and worked in downtown Miami 1981 to 1983 then we moved our office to the Doral area in late 1983. I left work at met up with my parents and we ate at Versailes then went to the game.

This is the box score for the game :

    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/198111300mia.htm

I was wrong about the date it was acutally November 30th.....so I was off by a day big deal. It was at THIS game, and it was on a Monday night, and Howard Cosell and Fran Gifford were going ballistic during the game because of the crowd noise.

Please apologize for your impertinence

It used to not be that way back when we played at the OB. Most of the stadium was sold to season ticket holders. But then came the 1980's and riots, boatlifts, murders and cocaine cowboys....then everyone moved away.....its sad.

I belong to a Facebook page called Bird Road Baby Boomers, and its full of folks who grew up in Westchester, Village Green, and West Bird areas of Miami, and 90% or more of the members on the group now live somewhere north of Palm beach County....its sad I miss the old Miami I grew up in :pity:

I couldn't disagree with you more. Most of the people I grew up with in West Miami/South Miami and West Bird areas of Miami live out of the state of Florida. Some have retired to NC or SC, also quite a few (including many of my relatives) to Tennessee. Of the families that I keep track of on the block I grew up on in South Miami, 4 of the chidren live in Florida, 3 live in California, 2 in Texas, 1 in NC, 1 in GA and 1 in Tennessee. Real old Miami folks, the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the people that were here from the early pioneer days to the 1950's are just about all gone from South Fla.

I think I have 20 posts on TGG. That forum blows. In any event, it's not like someone said it. It's just the reputation that Miami fans have, except I don't know why they have it. That is why I asked.

I hate the September games at the Meadowlands. My seats in the old stadium were on the "sun" side and you just baked. I can only imagine what it must be like in Miami. I'd much rather go to a game in December. You can always add layers in the cold. But in the scorching heat, there is nothing to do but sweat.

Oh piffel.....I went to 100 or more Dolphin games in Sept at the old OB and it was just fine at Sunday 1pm for the game. Bunch of chardonnay sipping pansies is what we have nowadays as fans ! :tantrum:

Just look at some game tape from the early 1990's and you'll see a half empty Foxboro Stadium, and during some of those 3-13 seasons the Jets have had, their stadium has lots of elbow room too.

I am a Marlins fan too, and watched Marlins/Mets games late in the season this year and there wasn't more than 15,000 people at CitiField for those games, played when the Mets were hopelessly out of it. And Yankee Stadium had lots of people disguised as seats in the late 1980's when the Mattingly led Yanks couldn't win 75 games a few years in a row. All cities have bandwaggoners.....its not just a South Fla syndrome.

That is not the Ron Jawarski game.....It was definately the Monday Night game in Nov 1981. I wish i still had the VCR tape and VCR player I could make a clip from.

Totally agree, I personally jumped on the bandwagon in the 1971 after the Dolphins lost to the 'Pokes. Still trying to figure out how to get off this thing. :pointlol:

    I disagree.

That stadium is incapable of approaching the levels of noise the OB did.
I've been to many a prime time and playoff game in Joe Robbie Stadium and it's not comparable to the atmosphere of the OB. Joe Robbie has documented issues as to why as well so it's really not a question anymore. It is what it is.

We never had issues with sellouts there either.
That alone can put this.... people aren't going because we don't have a dome crap to rest.

You have to also keep in mind that the OB didn't have thousands of overpriced club seats to fill. You've got huge blocks of seats that are "luxury priced". Seats that the Avg. fan is not going to fill. That hurts attendance.

Also as many have said, when you have established yourself as a winning and exciting team fans come. When your not there is a level of bandwagon in ANY fan base and less fans will come.

Nonetheless, even full, Joe Robbie stadium has never matched the "magical atmosphere" of the OB.

    Sadly you are correct.

My parents tell me Miami had kind of a southern town aura about it back in the 70's. The area was actually known for a family atmosphere, warm welcoming people and a safe area. That's changing almost everywhere though. Society is clearly degrading.

A dome would be ridiculous like ya'll said but could you imagine an exact replica of the Orange Bowl, just state of the art, combined with intimidation built in the blueprint...

not sure anything like that has ever been done..

Dolphins/Canes Ob2...damn, alright I'll shut up for now, no more out of me, lets just hope we win on sunday, or my theory will gain strength, uncontrolably...lol
