    I think some of what you've said here is valid, but it's entirely possible to align yourself with a party and still think for yourself. And I think you're seeing a new wave of young people that are doing so.

    You can be civil and not have legitimacy, you can be uncivil and be completely legitimate. They're only connected in your mind.

    Compromise isn't a goal in itself either. There are plenty of conflicts where the middle ground is still morally abhorrent.

    Have you ever heard of a guy called Ron Fournier?
