We've had a contingent trade in place with Cleveland for about a week... I haven't heard a single word about a trade with Oakland, so I'm dismissing this until I get more concrete info.

Nobody has signed winston b/c he's still looking for a long term deal. He just hasn't accepted the fact that he's basically a stop-gap at this point in his career. He'd be an upgrade at RT for us though.

    A. No way would I trade up for Milliner! He's good but he is not A Revis Island. I've seen him get burned at AL. I wouldn't even want him at 12. I'd take him at 15 or lower.

    B. Where is the link for the supposed Cleveland deal "in place" and the supposed "Oakland" trade, please...

    C. No way would I want to give up a 2nd to move up to Oakland. I suppose for Fisher it might turn out to be a good deal. Maybe, now that they have seen the shape Martin is in they have a better idea of what kind of player he will be? That could lead them to want to trade up.

    D. What I don't like about this is that the Dolphins have multiple needs - not just one OT. And giving up picks in rounds 2-3 is not wise, imo. If anything they need more picks and should trade down. Plus the multiple picks gives them flexibility within each round should someone fall.

You crazy. If Milliner is some how, some way still there at 12 it would take the Dolphins 2 seconds to get their pick in.

Branden Albert trade rumors: Dolphins, Chiefs haven't talked 'in days'

Waiting till after the 1st round helps our chances for KC to lower their demands too.

Remember if worse comes to worse, we could always sign Winston for Rt and go with Martin at LT.

It could also mean that the agreement is in place, but it's pending how the first round goes. That way we don't pull a JJ and miss out on a Moss dropping.

Hell no, forget it if he wants this crazy money. Could've just offered Jake Long more.

At some point I think we need to trust that Ireland/Aponte are pretty smart when it comes to cap and contract worth.

Ya know, no matter how it goes down, if a trade is made, Albert will make $9.83m this year. That's written in stone. How that $9.83M is scattered across the cap makes the difference. Aponte has done good with the contracts they are doing...IF a trade happens, as Deej said, we have to trust that they will make it so that either we can dump him relatively easily (cheaply) when needed (next year or the year after) or whatever....

Keep in mind in all this talk of trade that no matter what, he'll get his $9.83M this year...

That's a great point. Would it just have to be a guaranteed amount or is that the actual amount he absolutely has to take?

Players can renegotiate their contracts to accept less money, so maybe he'll take a 4 year 32 million with 16 guaranteed in place of the 1 year 9

I guess it's possible, but if I've already signed the paper that guarantees me the $9.83m, I'd be hard pressed to accept less than that...the player is in the drivers seat here... The thing is, will Ireland/Aponte offer enough to persuade him to move on from KC... From all accounts it seems to be about LT money with him...

A track record that is older than I would like, and has a bad back.
A 28 year old with a bad back just isn’t worth $9m/year. Miami would be better suited trading up and nabbing one of the 3 LT’s in the draft and paying roughly half what Albert wants.

BenVolinPBP Branden Albert trade can come together very quickly if it goes down. He's in Miami, can take a physical tmrw and be a Dolphin by nighttime

@ArmandoSalguero The #Dolphins are on board with the parameters of a contract with Branden Albert. They are ready to pay him elite LT money.

Take that for what it's worth.

I think it needs to be noted that Lane Johnson is not quite on the level of the other two, and hes the only one we'd really have a shot at if we traded up. We were ready to give Jake the same contract and he had missed far more time than Albert. Im not losing sleep over the pick or the money. I don't really see a flaw to this trade for either side.

I don't agree. He lacks a little in experience, but he is the best athlete and has the most upside.

Sounds great to me! Just structure it with that out clause after 2 years for protection like the other contracts we did this offseason and we'll be set.
