The Dolphins today had cornerback Demarcus Faggins (born June 13, 1979 in Irving, Texas) in for a free agent visit. Faggins spent the past seven seasons with the Houston Texans. Over the course of his career, he posted 216 tackles (187 solo) and five interceptions.

He was originally drafted by the Texans in the sixth round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at Kansas State.

All jokes aside, this guy has some decent numbers. I bet he could be a decent contributer.

Now, let's hear the best jokes you people got:jt0323:

LMBO. I think we need are more proven CB than this. Plus it would be nice to have one where a jets, pats, or bills fan can't make fun of us b/c of his name.

Why would they make fun of us? He'll be on their receivers for hours.

For the love of god no!! I watched him almost every sunday because all I got were Texans games and this guy is terrible! He was burnt constantly and overall is just very bad. He put up some OK numbers, but they lie horribly. The mere fact this guy was not pursued by the CB stricken TEXANS of all teams should tell you something.

IMO I wouldnt really even want him as a backup, would much rather draft some people and/or stick with what we have.

Especially if that receiver is DaCody Fagg!!! Talk about tight man coverage. You'd need a crow bar to separate the play. hahaha.

stats for a CB doesn't mean crap! The more tackles a CB has the more catches the guy he was covering has! I've seen a CB almost get the amount of interceptions this guy had for his whole career in one game!

Yeah really, Faggins was getting burned deep a few times a game. He was playing mostly because the Texans secondary was banged up. They made replacing him a big priority last year which is why they brought in Jaque Reeves (the ex Cowboys CB, misspelled most likely).

I really hope we dont sign this guy even as a nickel back. I would much rather see Allen and Allen/Green starting with a draftee or two behind them. Faggins was just terrible.

This is from Armando Salguero's "Dolphins In Depth" blog yesterday:

This is what ESPN's Scouts Inc says about the 29-year-old Faggins:

"He has been an on again, off again, starter for the Texans in the previous six years. He is a good athlete with quick feet and fluid, supple hips that he can flip to open and run with receivers, as they get even with him. He is quick in transition and drives on the ball with a decent burst of acceleration. He can be beat by speedy receivers on fly patterns and needs to bail out early when he thinks receivers are going to try and just run by him. He is a smart corner who shows good route recognition when in off coverage and does a good job of reading the quarterback's eyes to get a jump on the ball from zone. He can struggle to make a play on the ball, when lined up on bigger receivers and seems to find his success when lined up on the inside slot receivers. While he can line up and start at corner, he is best suited as a nickel back who covers the inside routes."

Sounds like a depth guy that can be had on the cheap and possibly used as a decent nickle or dime DB.
