Last year, they did this. All the talk last year was about how this team had to upgrade the quarterback position. Well, they drafted Ryan Tannehill, which I think was their plan regardless of whether they signed Peyton Manning or Matt Flynn. I don't think they were ever convinced that Matt Flynn was a starter. Now, the Dolphins are doing it again. This year, the Dolphins are telling us that they have to get more explosive, and they have to force more turnovers on defense. It's not like we didn't already know we needed that. So, what do the Dolphins need to do to improve their ability to force turnovers on defense? Probably the easiest way for force turnovers is to get a ball hawking presence in the secondary that has good ball skills. Johnthan Banks comes into the draft with 15 career interceptions and 41 career passes defensed along with 5 forced fumbles. Fresno State safety Phillip Thomas has 13 interceptions and 28 passes defensed along with 6 forced fumbles. As far as the explosive players on offense goes, many of them have been discussed.
I would love Banks personally at 12 based on what I know now. Not to say other people don't interest me.
KB, what do you think of Danny Armendola? Some interesting FA's up this year, aside from the Big 3 wr's
Danny Amendola? I think he's an excellent slot receiver, but I think he's essentially a duplication of Davone Bess.
I would not be sad with Banks and Thomas. If they can somehow get 1 WR out of Patterson, Hopkins, Austin, Bailey, Williams, Hunter, or Allen that would be amazing. Add in 1 of Eifert, Ertz, Fauria, Reed, Toilolo, or Gavin Escobar. Looking solid.
The good news is Manti Te'o is back on the board for Miami due to a bad night that largely owes more to the terrible job the Notre Dame defensive line is doing against the Bama offensive line.
He missed a couple (at least 3 tackles) that he should have made. Nix III has done a good job, but everyone else has sucked.
If we got Banks I'd be Or if Byrd somehow made it out of Buffalo. That'd be a wonderful FU to some very annoying Bills fans as well.
My gut feeling after today is that Milliner will be gone before our pick, but Banks will should be available come time for us to pick. Funny you mention Byrd because *IF* Banks doesn't work out at CB I am about 95% sure you could move him to FS and he would be able to make a big contribution and have a lot of success there ala Byrd.
