I thought this was nice of Moss that he would give encouragement to a young player who wasn't on his team. Despite his struggles, Moss saw potential in Vontae Davis.

Vontae is only going to get better, and he's flashed big time capability already.

I am hoping he does well enough to get into the Pro Bowl maybe next year.

and if smith won´t learn to tackle and become the physical hitter his body is made for, it will never ever change

I too was impressed by Vontae,we have a good young secondary that will only get better. I think him and Smith are both doing pretty good for being rookies and will continue developing into decent corners. In my opinion the future of our secondary looks bright especially if Clemons builds on what he has shown so far.

Vontae would have been a Top 10 pick in the draft if it was not for his questionable work ethic/attitude.

From what we have seen this year it looks like he has his head on straight and the desire to play in NFL. We got a steal that far down in the 1st round.

Good thing his brother Vernon stole all the bad mojo/attitude from the family. Vontae so far got his head on straight!

I think that not getting the starting number 2 position really motivated Vontae. WE all kind of saw him struggle in preseason and it is nice to see that he has taken that set back and worked hard to improve himself. While Will Allen going down hasn't helped us short term, it definitely has helped us long term, getting those rookie games out of the way. Hopefully Sean Smith can get back to his early season days and start making plays again. It is looking real bright again in Miami's secondary, with 4 young guns back there (Davis, Smith, Clemons, and Jones)

Probably not IMO. The reason is because he wasn't very disciplined at Illinois University. He blew assignments and he wasn't a consistent player in run support. He'd make a strong play in run support and then be non-existent the rest of the game. He seems to have calmed down a bit here and has quickly learned that he can't get by only his natural talents, like he did in Illinois. I could have seen him go in the early teens but I didn't see top ten. I think we are fortunate to have him drop to twenty five though. He's very talented, just needed some discipline.

Moss is actually a really good person according to some of his past teamates. Except in Oakland where he wanted out badly. I do believe that Moss and Pennington are very very good friends so it does not surprise me one bit and Vontae really deserved it. He learned some valuable leasons by getting the assignment of covering Moss all day. He learned that he needs to go lower on Moss, and players like him, to make a sure tackle when there is no help with him. All in all, I'd give Davis an A for effort though...
