In today's day and age there are countless thousands who type "sport's stuff. They are called writers, posters, bloggers, threaders, tweeters, journalist, and texters.

I've led a sheltered life and confuse easily. LOL

From what I see, they all type sports stuff looking for replies. Whatis the difference between the names labeled? Is it the length of what is typed? Is it the context which is typed?

I just don't get it. Any help?

Some are paid for their services, the others are " I wanna be a writer " type people and hope and pray at least 12 people reply to their post/blog whatever and agree with them.

I have learned one thing, for the most part, they all are just shooting ducks in the dark. They throw as much doo doo as they can and sooner or later, some it sticks on the wall.

I agree with what you're saying. However, let's look at a Mondo. He is a "supposed writer" for the Herald. Yet, he says to check out his blogs, texts, and tweets. How the Frackare they different?

Look at forums, not just this one. You open a thread, type an opening post, and have an "option" of it being a blog.

    I'm at a loss.

    It's about format.

A 'blog' is short for 'web log'. The term has been popular for less than a decade. It's less formal and designed for interaction with readers (comments). Joe Schad -- back when he was covering the Dolphins -- was the first local guy to have one. He did a great job with it and it help him get hired by ESPN as a college football TV analyst and writer.

Your more traditional columnists/writers like it because there's no deadlines, no space crunch (meaning editors aren't removing content). And in today's instant news age, it enables them to break news and get stuff out there quickly without waiting on an editor, publisher, etc.

A blogger is someone who operates and/or submits their work exclusively on blogs.

'Poster' tends to describe folks like us here. We're unpaid folks posting on an open forum.

As technology develops and time passes, it all started to mesh together.

As far as lines of demarcation, I think it comes down to access and compensation. Journalists and some bloggers are paid for their services and will also have access to teams, players, sources, etc.

I'm still at a loss. Are you saying that what someone types, good or bad, is determined by getting paid for it, or his access to his info?

I have to disagree. I have seen some threads/posts on this forum which were much better, and more informed that stuff I have seen in the so called media. This is why I am still here.

Defing things by payment and/or access does this forum a dis-service. JMO.

I see where this thread was moved. After many years of posting, I have to believe that the mod did not know any better about off season threads. Regardless, I look forward to he/she starting threads, WHICH ARE ACCEPTABLE for forum discussion to continue.

Kids, regardless of age, try to understand forums. LMAO!
