You realize you weren't the only one posting on the topic, right?

Be that as it may, even though the Seattle-Miami comparison posts weren't directed at you per se, they do still apply to you considering you liked how Seattle "continued to address the QB position" even though you previously bashed every attempt Miami made and saying stuff like <paraphrasing> "Ireland will suck until he spends a 1st rounder on a legitimate franchise quarterback."

After experiencing drafting and player acquisition as it pertains to the Dolphins for the past 25 years, should this fan have seen anything that would give them a realistic sense of expectation for that process?

No because he's calling me an ***.

You see Sethdaddy can't spell Finascious, so he shortened it to Francis, because though 2 syllables are still difficult for his New Jersey educated ***, its still easier than 3. Plus, its a girls name. So win-win for ManSnooki.

MrClean, being older than Chester A Arthur, had a moment of clarity in his senile ravaged husk of a brain, and remembered hearing something from his childhood on the rich neighbor's fancy phonograph about an *** named Francis.

So, one thing lead to another and now those two crazy kids live together and when Seth isn't gelling his hair and Clean isn't eating a nice mild farina, they stroke each other's hate boners for Jeff Ireland, while whispering "Francis" into each other's ears.

Normally, when one has experiences over 25 years one tends to expect a similar level of results. The way people talk about Ireland's drafts, one would think they were used to hitting on 85% of draft picks over the last 25 years. That obviously hasn't been the case for the dolphins (or any other team for that matter).

I must give credit where it is due. That was ******* funny as hell. I'm literally ROFLMAO over that one. :sidelol:

I am not older than Arthur though. I was born during the Taft administration, just to set the record straight. ;)

We can see how other team's personnel departments do though. So, we should be happy with mediocre, just because the several preceding mediocre were awful?

It was just an observation about the irony of how fans who have seen poor personnel moves for 25 years have such high expectations. Not really trying to argue a point here.

In terms of seeing how other team's personnel departments do, I wonder which teams those are and how closely people are looking.

I just don't think you fire a guy for being "mediocre" unless you have a guy you feel better about waiting. i also don't know how you judge a guy to be mediocre when during his tenure he's had to do what Parcells wanted with Sparano to coach, where owners changed, Parcells left, you got a new coach with a completely different philosophy on players, and a strike shortened offseason your first solo year.

Those aren't excuses. Those are variables. All variables that could have had an impact on the view of the team and ultimately the job Ireland has done. A proper assessment of what's wrong with a given thing, is removing the variables until the problem is isolated.

If you say he's mediocre through all of that and we'll be heading into next year with cap space, a bunch of picks & our coach/QB of the future combo.....I gotta say keep him unless the Giants GM wants new digs.

Well, this Christmas Ireland proponents are going to get their wish. Ireland will be retained. That much is pretty clear. Just remember, when us Dolphin fans get nothing but a lump of coal for free agency I'll be here to say, "You asked for it."

CK said it best when he spelled out what's going to happen. He'll spend all his time signing his own players, ignoring the rest of the free agent market save for a couple of also rans who will either be cut or have no impact. Ireland's fan club will say that he had to resign those players and that we shouldn't have expected any big name free agents to be signed, even though history will show their wish lists included several impact names. They'll talk about how Ireland is going to build through the draft. That's the way winning teams do it.

Another mediocre draft later that overall will have no impact on wins/losses, and another losing or .500 season later and we'll be right back where we started. Defending or criticizing the soulless ginger that is the Miami Dolphins GM.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!! Edited to add not being facetius; really Merry Christmas everyone...

yet the OLine has still been a problem this year, even with all those resources invested in it. And if Long walks we will have to replace him. Ireland even screwed that up, what was supposed to be his bread & butter, putting together an OLine.

Are you saying that building thru the draft is a bad thing? And which of our FAs to be would you like to be let go?

How much do you watch the OL during games? What do think the problem has been so far?

Not at all. That doesn't mean free agency isn't essential to filling holes and adding depth. And re signing most of our free agents shouldn't preclude the team from adding free agents that can contribute. But it will be the excuse that is used. You're using it already.

Thigpen, Lane, Trusnik and Marshall have all contributed when healthy. Ocho, Hicks, Guyton, Garrard and Nanee didn't work out. Moore and Burnett came in and contributed. We have 5 picks in the top 80 come April and some flexibility to go after more FAs if need be. I don't see a big difference between what u suggest and what's being done.
