Is there a play where we have our QB take a snap and fall forward? especially on short yardage downs? Some teams call it a QB sneak!!! I cannot believe that this is something we refuse to use, especially with a big, athletic QB. We would rather run wide, throw fades or long passes across the field to get a yard or two.We are in the shotgun or Miller 9 yrds off the ball in every short yardage play. Love when we keep Ryan under center, seem to run the ball better that way. Every team has a signature play or player they count on in these situations...every team. What short yardage back do we have on this roster? we do not even carry a FB!! We had Polite a few years back. I think we can afford a roster spot to a bulldozer back that can get a yard on his own..you would think this would have been corrected by week 12 already. When its 3rd and 2, you know we will be in the shotgun, trying a difficult pass hoping we get a good throw and a good catch.
It would have failed I think and shows how much confidence the staff have in the OLine. The stej were prepared for it and their DLine was primed to defend it. We tried going for 1 yard a couple of times and they were flooding the gaps. I thought the actual pass calls were brilliant. The execution of the pass plays... Not so much... We have ran a QB sneak twice this season that I can remember and only made it once IIRC.
Personally, I don't like Ryan on the sneak unless he checks into it..he's prone to fumble and I think part of that is smaller hands..
