Bush has a great work ethic but I would love to see the dolphins not resign him and instead invest in a RB. IMO the phins need to draft a RB within the 2nd - 4th rounds. Is Daniel Thomas our future? To me the answer is no. We have Miller who flashed a little during the season he is looking more like our future. Now imagine with the RBs that are in the draft this year do you think we will be in position to take a chance with one of them? To me the time to grab a RB is this year. The quality of RBs seems deeper than normal sure none of them seem elite but in this type of offense a elite rb is not a must. We have DT signed through 2014 although i dont believe he is our future he is a decent place holder until our new RB gets acclimated to the NFL. We should not keep him just because he was a second round pick.

You have to remember Ireland is a big best player on the board guy when it comes to the draft. So do not be surprised if he grabs a RB in the second. If we get a RB in this draft it will lock up our RBs for the future for a low price and if our newly aquired RB gets acclimated quick enough we could trade off DT before the deadline. Here is a list of 30 of the RBs in the draft
D.J. Harper (RB-Boise St.) George Winn (RB-Cincinnati) Andre Ellington (RB-Clemson) Kenjon Barner (RB-Oregon) Latavius Murray (RB-UCF) Johnathan Franklin (RB-UCLA) Montel Harris (RB-Temple) Ray Graham (RB-Pittsburgh) Mike James (RB-Miami) Rex Burkhead (RB-Nebraska) Christine Michael (RB-Texas A&M) Montee Ball (RB-Wisconsin) Stepfan Taylor (RB-Stanford) Eddie Lacy (RB-Alabama) Zac Stacy (RB-Vanderbilt) Stefphon Jefferson (RB-Nevada) Kerwynn Williams (RB-Utah St.) Cierre Wood (RB-Notre Dame) Theo Riddick (RB-Notre Dame) Knile Davis (RB-Arkansas) Robbie Rouse (RB-Fresno St.) Miguel Maysonet (RB-Stony Brook) Trabis Ward (RB-Tennessee St.) Michael Dyer (RB-Auburn) Le'Veon Bell (RB-Michigan St.) Jawan Jamison (RB-Rutgers) Giovani Bernard (RB-North Carolina) Roy Finch (RB-Oklahoma) Joseph Randle (RB-Oklahoma St.) Spencer Ware (RB-LSU) Marcus Lattimore (RB-South Carolina)

I would love to see Ireland take the position of looking ahead into the future rather then just pluggin holes like he has been.

I just don't know. It depends what the coaches think of the current guys, what the coaches and Ireland decide after discussing the current guys vs options in the draft and FA, and how high a priority it is compared to other holes.

    No idea.

IMO, DT is not going to be here in two years. Bush may stay, but will be spelled with Miller. Jonas Grey is a question mark X factor for power runs. I could see us taking a bigger RB in the 5th, 6th or 7th to compete with Daniel Thomas in camp and preseason.

If Miami were smart, they'd use their depth to their advantage. Take a shot on Lattimore with that shiny 4th round comp pick. He likely doesn't make it, but who knows. If at the beginning of day 3 you are staring down at a guy like Mike Gillislee dropping, much like Miller? You probably trade up for him. He's wowing at the Senior Bowl and I genuinely think he has what it takes to be a good running back in this league. He's an all around back, so he doesn't fit that bruiser role you would like to match with Lamar Miller, but I want good running backs, not thunder and lightning.

Do they draft one? I think probably. Do they spend a high pick on one? I'd be pretty shocked. I think Miller is going to be very good and I think they still have high hopes for Thomas. I've said it before, but I'd love to see them draft Mike James late. He is going to have a very long career in the NFL as a backup HB, and special teams player. I think he can have a Kevin Faulk type career.

I'd be OK with using a mid round pick on Mike Gillislee or Marcus Lattimore

If we go late pick then maybe a guy like Christine Michael

How bad is it going to be when we cut Thomas? I really don't want Ireland to draft another RB. At least not in the early rounds.

Cierre Wood in the 7th. Or, Theo Riddick in the 6th. Or, Kenjon Barner in the 5th. Or, Stepfan Taylor in the 4th. No RB before the 4th. IMO.

I'll agree with Mr Clean's Kenjon Barner, as we could use a playmaker to replace Bush should he depart.
I'd go so far as considering Ellington & Lattimore in the 3rd.
A mid rounder on A&M's Christine Michael could be possible.
DJ Harper, Robbie Rouse, & Kerwynn Williams are intriguing late rounders. Harper seems underrated to.

Eddie Lacy shouldn't be ignored depending how Ireland & Co feel about DT's health moving forward.

Once I drop my first I'm not going balls deep again for a while, Deej. You're a better man than I. :p

I think Lacy is the type of back Ireland was envisioning when he drafted Thomas. That really didn't work out. I wonder if he'll try again with Lacy? I rather doubt it, but Lacy would be just the kind of back we need.

I'd rather us go all WR & pass rusher & TE in the first 4 rounds, and Oline the rest of the way...barring any life altering BPA's.

I think our oline needs fixing, but I don't think it needs high draft picks to do it. I think that alone would improve our running game and allow us to get our TE's involved as targets and instead of blockers in the passing game. Plus, open up the playbook more overall.

(This is with the understanding we cannot solve of our holes this offseason.)
